easydiagnostics.

Post by Gibbo2286 »

I got an email this morning from them offering a new multi vehicle Actia diagnostics tool, looks interesting, has a video of sorts on their website.

Shy about the price, need to log in and ask.

Do you really need another diagnostic tool now Eric? I had a quick look at the video and would be concerned about ongoing update cost to keep current with all those marques / models. What is the price with any add on / annual costs?

Youngest daughter has just bought a 2015 Hyundai i30. Do you happen to know if this multi-vehicle interface will cover this?

Although it doesn't tell you a lot, click on the video at the top of the page (with the volvo centre), after a while of going into the marques to show the models, there is a bit more on the content:

I really don't need any more stuff, Jim persuaded me to buy the Wurth Wow snooper and it seems to do most of what I need, the Lexia I bought before, I've never got up and running, I could have built a kit car from scratch in the time I've spent messing about on that. :(

Looking at his site I see that he's offering a Citroen Peugeot diagnostics laptop ready to use for £350.

It's simply getting a refurb'd laptop and installing everything on ready to go and saving the end user from doing the install. You can get a half decent laptop for £70 ish now (ex. corporate), perfect for diags. I still use my Lenovo (IBM) and it never fails.

I've got four laptops here Marc, two old ones that are not man enough to run Diagbox and two more up to date ones that are 64 bit so too advanced for the 32 bit software.

Gibbo. He now advertises 64 bit software on his site.

How old is your Lexia? Is it the Rev C? I may be interested if I can't resurrect my old one although I have to be REALLY careful with spending any money these days.

Yes but be aware you will not be able to use it with your Xantia! Diagbox is 64bit compatible - but not the encapsulated Lexia (Citroen) and Peugeot Planet 2000 (Peugeot) software. For your Xantia you will need Lexia running and that WILL NOT run on a 64 bit laptop natively.

If you do get your own VCI running, it should be fine with your Xantia. You only need a later chip version for more modern vehicles with advanced electronic architectures.

I'm interested in getting the Wow snooper interface and software. I read loads of stuff about it being hard to install, is this true? I bought a Windows 7 laptop for diagnostics and it says support has ended and updates cannot be installed. Not really a problem I suppose, I imagine windows 7 laptops are going to be even cheaper now?

Make what cheaper? :-D That just means Microsoft aren't issuing any more maintenance patches or updates to Windows 7 as it is now out of the extended support cycle.

New PCs and Laptops haven't been shipping with Windows 7 for years. You'll only find Windows on older laptops that it was shipped with on the second hand market - if the owners didn't take advantage of the Win 10 free upgrades back in the day for capable systems.

You'll find that Windows 10 does a decent enough job of running most older programmes to be honest, but the issues you may face are more likely to be Hardware drivers if your older hardware / software requires them. Windows 10 has a much stricter driver compliance requirement than previous versions.

So if that particular diagnostic tool your are referring to requires a specific driver to make it work and the designers have not written a driver for it nor had it approved by Microsoft, you will likely find that it will not work properly.

Jim at easydiagnostics set up my WoW software via 'teamviewer' so I don't have any experience of installing it myself, I have however got a newer Win 10 64 bit laptop that I'm going to have a go at moving it to...……..when I raise the necessary enthusiasm.

I'm told that unlike the Diagbox stuff it will work ok on 64 bit laptops.

Like the Lexia and Diagbox stuff it's not the real thing it's a clone so no updates from Wurth are available, to buy a genuine set up and all the service updates you would need to be running a full time business for it to be worth the cost.

What does it do? Things like coding injectors etc would be useful. I have a mechanic that uses it but he's not the sharing type. I can't find an online manual either. I suppose for £55.00 it's wurth a go...
