Thanks Marc,

Will give it an attempt but I don't have the correct tester only a multimeter. I will try and trace the splice E909 within the car and do a continuity test.

The only other thing I can check is the pin on the diagnostic socket. After that I'm snookered. What I may do is get another person to run a global test with a different VCI cable to see if they get the same result. But this can wait until after the restrictions.

diagbox 3.jpg
Don't know if this helps Kenny but my X7 has similar issue which the dealers diagnosed a broken wire to the suspension pump ecu, unfortunately they didnt tell me which wire had broken and they have now closed for the next couple of months. I have managed to get the car back home and it looks like they have done a bit of rewiring as wires to suspension pump ecu have fresh black tape on them.

Here is a screen shot of my global test but I am using an earlier version of diagbox so it might be different.

Thanks Gino,

My suspension is working fine but the diagnostic line isn't. So communication between diagbox and ecu. Hence my hunt for a broken/damaged wire.

Well found the splice in the front passenger footwell at the sill, unknown if there was a break but resoldered splice. Will need to do global test.

Done global test and communication error is still there.

What next and how to test the wiring between ecu and diagnostic plug ?

But one bit of good news got my laptop working diagbox on w 7 pro.

Well, I have eventually tested the continuity between pin E2 on BHI plug and pin 12 on diagnostic socket, less than 60 ohms so no break in the wire.

I can only deduce 2 possible faults BHI faulty with this line only or the interface is not working correctly.

All the functions required of BHI are working correctly apart from the diagnostic line.

I think I need the help of another member with Diagbox to check.

60Ω ?? A piece of wire should be less than 1Ω.

Kenny, have a look at this topic - another owner was having issues with his OBD socket and apparently in Sweden they need to connect to it for their version of the MOT.

As you'll see he needed to change a fuse to get the correct power back to the socket, which led to us finding that the some of the car manuals were wrong, as is the electrical diagrams!

The continuity test result was 0.16 ohms as i said less than 60 ohms !!!!!!!!!!!!

Will look at the post.

I've read the post.

I will check the fuse but my DRL's are working. But that doesn't mean there is not a problem there. I did have to replace the DRL's last year but have been working since with LED replacements.

Kenny

PS Can the interface be repaired ?

Fuse fine DRL's working, given up hope.

Will contact Jim at Easy Diagnostics.

How can you check to see if the license is still active or valid ?
and
How can you check if the interface is working correctly ?

You should have a solid green light on the VCI if it's working - and of course communication with all the relevant ECUs after a Global Test.

If it's one specific ECU - like the suspension / ESP K Line on pin 12, then it might be worth checking this out on the interface board in case the connection has become de-soldered of loose. I'm assuming it's out of its 12 month warranty, so you shouldn't have an issue with opening it up to see. You can then check the continuity from the board pin to the socket pin to see if there's a break anywhere in the cable.

If it's deactivated, it will either refuse to launch or tell you it is deactivated.

Well out of warranty it's at least 5 years old.

Bought it when I had the Xantia HDi.

Solid green light and in device manager it says it's connected through USB port and when tried in the others it loads the software allowing these ports to be used.
I'm now getting a Java script error. What version are you running ?

It's not my day. But always thanks for your reply Marc. I won't give up.

I think I’m on 7.62 Kenny. That’s the latest I will go to, as any later and less functionality.

And just so I understand, it’s not picking up the Suspension_ECOTECH ECU?

If not then my gut is one of the connections on the circuit board Kenny.

ALL of them? Are you saying none of them are being picked up? Have you copied back your licence file (when Diagbox is not loaded up)?
