For lease to employees via salary-deduction.
At £65k, hardly a frontline item, as you say.

..and this is where the general public get confused, hence my initial comment.

Good.

ALL British government agencies should be using British or British built cars unless there is no alternative. You don't see many French/Spanish/German agencies in anything other than locally made vehicles...

Made in Austria by an Indian owned company...

This car is built by Magna in Gratz Austria. Most of the engineering was also done by Magna in Austria. Although most of the design work was done in the UK. However Jaguar is owned by Tata of India, so any profits go to India. There are many car companies that have design studios in the UK. The ipace is not a British car or a British built car.

Not really too relevant Neil if the bulk of the revenue goes on wages and sub-suppliers in the UK.

Not my comment Gibbo just copied verbatum from the "comments" below the Auto Express article.

There will be some benefit along the line to the UK-, but especially with an electric car I guess the motor and batteries will come from the far east, and all the assembly is currently done under contract with Magna Steyr in Austria so little of the wage bill will be benefiting by Uk workers.

I was a little surprised to read that Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust were the headline organisation behind the "deal" with JLR, with the I-Pace joining the NHS fleet in April, and being accessible to staff at 200 NHS Fleet Service member organisations.

For NHS Fleet Service....I take it is NHS Fleet Solutions which I presume is this lot

https://nhsfleetsolutions.co.uk/

Will this be a benefit to allow NHS staff, should they choose to, the chance to lease a car at more favourable rates by salary sacrifice with the benefit in kind value for 100% electric vehicles set to incentivise their uptake.

From April 6th 2020 new lower rates become effective. In the UK all BEVs will pay no company car tax in 2020-21, just 1% in 2021-22 and 2% in 2022-23.

Jaguar's Deal with the NHS, the UK's largest employer , and the greatest pool of staff potentially available to take up leases on their EV's, is a smart business move. Dont think the story is really about the NHS greening their essential business milage, more selling leases to NHS staff, who may or may not do significant milage in the course of their NHS work.

Steve, apologies the Morgan Motor Company, that often quoted British manufacturer is now owned by an Italian Investment Group :-D

In this world of global commerce where Scotts Porage Oats is owned by Pepsico. and merely milled with lashings of foreign oats in Bonnie Scotland, I am afraid that it is no longer possible to rely on Morgan as being an example of a truly British Car Company.........since March/April this year Italian investment company Investindustrial has acquired a majority stake in Morgan Motor Company.

And there's another disappointment - I thought it was French water I was drinking.
Changes daily it seems. Like the Spanish electricity and gas I use.
And of course the Spanish money that I am hoarding
