what type of coolant is in the C3

Hi all,

Looking for the coolant type in the wife's c3 (A51) 62 plate.

I've checked service citroen but it brings up a range of coolants /antifreezes.

Hoping it's the same as the C5 G33 Glysantin as the car will need a change in coolant.

I can only give you the Citroen references for the long life OAT products Kenny:

Those numbers are not displaying any documents. I'm going to pick up some citroen parts tomorrow, I'll see if the guy can find out for me. He had some difficulty in getting concentrated G33 for me.
Hopefully I can find out and I'll post the results on the forum.

Yes I think it's probably the dealer concentrated stuff Kenny - but they all pretty much use the OAT long life stuff now.

When I was getting the timing belt done about 18 mths ago on the C5, I read the Glysantin guide and G33 can be mixed with G30. But they recommend using both but only mix as a top up.

Obviously it is easier to source G30 online but the price difference between g30 and g33 concentrate from Citroen is nothing.

When I checked the missus's car today I would appear to be pink in colour (G33) in the expansion tank but tinted with a little orange colour which I suspect is rust. The car is 7 years old but only does about 4,000 miles a years and is not regularly driven now.

I think we had a discussion a few years ago back on the Forum about the colours and they don't appear to be relevant to the content. Some were orange originally, some green, others pink. I just let the dealer do mine at the time and for the life of me can't remember what they did - but obviously there own stuff.

Their own literature is seriously lacking on the coolant side Kenny...

I think any of the OAT would be fine as long as the system was drained and thoroughly flushed to remove any traces of whatever is in there now.

Well, Citroen have moved on and NOT selling G33 anymore.

The closest to this G30 which can be picked up easily online.

But if changing it requires a complete engine flush before refilling with the new antifreeze.

The coolant/antifreeze they are selling is the same price and longlife oat ethylene glycol but a blue/green colour. It is ready mixed with 5 l costing approx. £20.

Do not know what was originally put in the C3 ?

Probably the stuff they are no longer supplying - due to product development. It was long life though for sure.
