The pads were A$3000 odd a pop and took months to arrive, so I reckon they're genuine. I wonder if Citroen have changed them to another pad that is less likely to have problems as it seems a common issue? Maybe getting so warm and being sat on made them break more easily.

If you’re, understandably, worried about them failing completely but, again understandably, don’t want to wind the garage up, why not explain the problem but tell them you’re prepared to live with it provided they give you a written assurance that, should they fail completely within a certain time then they will resolve the problem at their cost ?
TBH I’ve got used to mine not working and it doesn’t really bother me any longer.
Good luck 😀

One of the conditions of the warranty is that they don't cover repairs beyond the period of the warranty. Also if they can barely be felt in the weather were currently having here (Tasmania still high teens - low 20's) what will they be like in winter when I want them?

It's funny - I have another car that has them and even on the lowest setting they're too hot (BMW 118). Unfortunately I don't like that car.

If I'd had the seats go out of warranty I certainly wouldn't be paying this sort of money to get them fixed. I wouldn't have bought the car had I known they were duff. Heated seats is a feature I definitely want after having a car that had them (a 2001 Saab 95 Aero wagon I stupidly sold).

wfdTamar wrote: 03 Apr 2020, 00:42 .... It does help my argument that those of you with heated seats are saying the base heats the same as the back.
The only caveat to that is of course I'm not one of those who wears anything thermal, thick shirts and 4 layers of jumpers :-D - only a thin cotton short sleeved shirt generally - even in winter. So with that I would expect to feel the heat a little sooner through the seat back - and not also forgetting that the skin on your back is a lot thinner than your rear end. The base seat has the leather, strides and your undies to get through though...

I'm sure there are technical heat transference equations that exist for such things! So may be the test is to wear a pair of swimming trunks and a T-shirt to do a comparison on both front seats?

I just dug out this thread while seeking the diagram (found it on the first page) for an opposite kind of problem.

I've experienced random cases of drained battery during the past few months i've had my X7. No help from a new battery nor any trace of why it might get drained.

Yesterday i found the reason but not yet the main cause. I noticed that my seats heat up even when the car is in economy mode. And those switches are fairly easily turned to max by accident...
It has served as a taxi cab before and i'm suspecting it might be an intentional "fix" :D

Very likely, as the heated seats are not designed to work at all without the engine running - and economy mode of course is not relevant when the engine is running - so somebody has likely bypassed the BSI command, or bodged the wiring and of course that's why your battery is going flat. One has to wonder what else has been butchered?

Hello, @GiveMeABreak, you have mentioned that you know the correct resistance of the heating wire in the seats. Could you share?
I've 10 pin connector version, so I found the green plug, which is connected to the wires disapearing in the bottom pad, on one seat there is 2ohms on pin 1,4 and in the driver seat there is 16ohms!? (that is wired).
Do you know if the pads from the bottom and backrest are connected as parallel circuits or there are connected in a row?

Pinout for single socket, which deducted (so correct me if I'm wrong) is:

(I numbered pins from left to right in rows, in position of a hatch on the top. But to be sure, notice that for my list, PIN 2 is empty and is in top left corner.)

1. is +12V,
2. empty
3. brown is connected to the thermistor, pin 2 in heating wire socket
4. I don't know - probably to the heating seat switch
5. I don't know - probably to the heating seat switch
6. Pink connected to the heating wire, in  the heating wire socket pin 4
7. orange, connected the heating wire, in the heating wire socket pin 1
8. GND
9. yellow, connected to the thermistor, pin number 3 in the heating wire socket
10. I don't know - probably to the heating seat switch

However, I've no idea how they are numbered in reference to the wiring in the schema on the beginning of this thread.

Assumption is:
1. [4] so +12v
2. Empty
3. [B2]
4. -> ?
5. -> ?
6. [B4]
7. [B1] -> [c2]
8. GND M56, 77, 76 = [1]
9. [B3] -> [c1]
10. -> ?

No idea what would be C equivalent in 10 pin plug. I can't find no where the schema for this newer version.
Also what are the expected resistance values. Could any one help?

Here are the resistances for the X7.
VehicleSeat / BackrestMeasuring Point Pin NumberMinimal ValueMaximal Value
C5 (X7)Seat1 - 40,72Ω0,95Ω
C5 (X7)Seat2 - 34 kΩ10 kΩ
C5 (X7)Backrest1 - 20,79Ω1,05Ω
I can't understand your wiring numbering in your post.

From the wiring Diagram I put up, tell me the hardware number of the item that is shown underneath and then I can help with the connection designations, for example:
8310.PNG
8310: Driver´s Heated Seat

I can then provide you with the connection info for the pins 1-4

I've this single plug module, i can't find it's pinout.
ImageImage
Pins I've numbered are done in relation to this plug in the picture below. So 1 is upper left corner, 2nd is empty, 10 is bottom right corner.
Image

When it comes to the schema for one 8310. it has this single plug with 10 pins.
1. [4] so +12v
2. Empty
3. Pin [B2] of 8310 goes to the thermistor of the seat
4. I dont't know to which pin in 8302 goes
5. I dont't know to which pin in 8302 goes
6. [B4] of 8310 goes to the heater of the seat but also to the backrest
7. [B1] of 8310 goes to the heaterof the seat but also to the backrest
8. GND connected to 8302 and to 8310
9. [B3] goes to the thermistor of the seat
10. I don't know to which pin in 8302 goes

Because I found that pin 6,7 and 3 and 9 goes to the green plug:

And then to the seat, and there is no separate plug which goes to the backrest, I'm assuming that backrest is powered from the same plug.
