A bit silly - expected they would use the airbag switch. I did see that my passenger one was on when I cleared the car out a few days ago. Driver one has packed up. Some of us just don't care, unfortunately.

I did wonder if it needed to be sat in, so sat there like a numpty with the engine idling trying to feel if my bum was getting hot from unnatural sources.

The heated pad regulation unit controls the heated pads in relation to the user’s reference value (adjustment dial) and the temperature of the seat (temperature sensor). So it will regulate the temperature and will only function when the engine is running, but there is no sensor to detect whether you've parked your rear ends on the seats or not.

I’ve gone through similar with my C8 Exclusive.

Driver’s seat and backrest both stopped heating and both parts showed open circuit at about 60,000 miles and 5 years. I had a (non-Citroen) extended warranty which covered it but I would have had to pay, IIRC, about 40% of the parts cost. This would still have been about £500 so I’ve lived without heated seat.

Annoying thing is my wife is always leaving passenger seat turned on and it still works after 160,000 miles (and no, I’m not a LOT heavier than her). I can also confirm it works without anybody in the seat.

The thing is, I have a spare genuine driver’s seat base with non working heater and I have always intended to try to see if I can carefully open it up and fit a (non factory) heated element......One day !

Nor mine really, but being able to get the driving seat back up after reclining it is though.

Ok, got it back after their second attempt. They reckon they replaced the looms under the seats. Both seats work now, but the seat backs seem a lot warmer than the seat bases. You can pick that the backs are as soon as you feel them, but the bases are not so obvious. The backs get to a point you want them turned down, but the bases never do. As I didn't have working seats when I bought the car I don't know if that's normal.

I think mine are pretty uniform heating wise - but at least you have them working now - enjoy whilst working and still under warranty!!!

I would not find that acceptable, get them to fix it correctly.....make the buggers do their job, the one you have paid for.

I haven’t paid (directly). It’s under warranty, but I get the point and am inclined to agree, though I don’t want to p**s off the only Citroen dealer in town (also the only dealer for my Skoda).

If it was out of warrantee how would they treat you ? Personally it is exactly that type of fault that company's dismiss as trivial but it is exactly that type that just keeps niggling at me........but I understand your point/distances

It niggles me because though technically they work, they don’t seem to be working correctly, which to me indicates something is still not right and could fail completely again soon. What happened is they did the initial diagnosis, made a claim on the warranty. The warranty company paid out, but the dealer missed some things in the diagnosis which they then had to cover the cost of. Seems they can’t go back to the warranty company and add things (or they think it’s too much bother. If it’s that, it’s their choice).

It does help my argument that those of you with heated seats are saying the base heats the same as the back.

I do wonder if they have just slipped in an after market heat pad......it would explain the difference in temperature. (But....I would think that because "dealers"
