C4 Picasso 2014 Exclusive - Air Con Fan Issue (new Shape)

Post by zane2g2 »

Good afternoon all
First thing I must say, is what a brilliant site this is :-)

Onto my issue that I hope some very technically based people will be able to help me with :-)
On my 2014 C4 Pic (new shape) I have an issue with the cabin/air con heater fan unit.
Basically no matter what setting I have the speed on (from off to full tilt) the fan stays at the same speed.
When I turn up or down the temperature the fan stays the same speed.
Also when I unlock the car the fan starts running.
When I lock the car, the fan keeps running for a few minutes after locking.

I suspect its some kind of relay problem.
Can anyone assist in showing a schematic of where and/or how to remove/replace the resistor.
Or other any other advise into what is going on.

Many thanks
Zane

It's definitely the fan for the heater/aircon you mean? Not the radiator cooling fan?

Hi Paul,

Yep definitely the aircon/heater fan.

I had the bonnet open and checked whilst the fan was running.
Plus the fan noise was coming from the bulk head area of the engine bay.

Cheers

You say the fan runs at a constant speed, is running fast or slow?
It is quite likely the speed controller module that has failed, but a better description might help us.

The fan appears to be in the driver's footwell, so it seems a bit unlikely that you can hear it with the bonnet open....

The controller is next to the blower unit, I suspect that getting to it on a RHD car might be a bit of a challenge!!

Hi guys....
So...
It’s definitely the air con/heater fan
It can be heard on the out side and is definitely at the back of the engine bay
The speed of the fan is at constant fast speed
No matter what what speed or temperature I set on the touch screen air con page the fan stays at the same high speed.
Would any one have a diagram of the heat unit or any instruction on how to access said area.
I really appreciate all of your inputs
Cheers

Not you've said it is running constantly on fast speed, that would very likely be the lower Control Module.

Pop your VIN up for further details so we know the exact system you have.

Now, not Not too :)

You would be shocked at the amount of red squiggly lines I get, usually additional or missing letters but often words spelled completely back to front.
Sometimes the spellcheck suggestions are hilarious - I don't have autocorrect, fortunately.

It's worse when using any of the iPads or iPhones - on the PC it's just me! - But I do cycle through 3 keyboards depending on the RSI factor.

There looks to be only 1 type of blower and controller for all Mk2 cars.

Blower removal

Controller is next to the blower on the ducting, this is removing on a LHD car where it's behind the glovebox, it looks like it will be visible once the panel is removed as per stage 3 above.
