GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Jan 2020, 11:57 To be honest, there is no better way to update the firmware than from an official dealer CD. Sometimes the dealers have these to update vehicles already, but will charge you time to do it which may be a lot more than asking to order the part.

The part number for the CD for the 2.86 RT6 firmware shown for the DS5 is: 9691894880. It is £12.49 inc. VAT.

There is a good reason why I suggest you update from an original dealer CD. They have some copy protection built in and downloaded versions on the internet are known to cause installation errors, where the CRC checks will get to 100% but will fail every time. In most cases where this has happened, obtaining an official CD has resulted in a fault free installation.
i dont think i can go this route - as my cd drive is making weird noises like its searching for a disk - ive tried putting in a normal cd - but it fires up spits it out and then makes the noise again

Sounds like it is trying to find bootable media - try with the actual dealer disk when you get it - if you put in a normal CD it probably can't find the system disc, so ejects it. The CD is the primary boot device.

Ok having a play I decided to try a different USB pen drive.. (has an led activity light)
Turned on ignition
Put in car usb slot
It started flashing (led)
The CD noise has stopped
But screen not indicating anything
It's definitely reading the usb drive thou
Any ideasbas to screen or should I just get a CD and try it.. (would of thought I'd see something on screen) even if failed

It's hard for me to diagnose remotely as I hope you can appreciate. I could be the screen itself that is faulty - but only a diagnostic with Diagbox would be able to return any possible fault codes. That might give some clues.

Ok I've burnt the latest iso to CD it's reading it but still no display hmmm
I'm quite happy to buy the firmware from Citroen..
But I'm still unsure if it will even work

As far as the screen goes.. if I put the original SD card in you get a slight flash of the Citroen logo before reboot.. so I assume the screen is ok

If I put a blank sdcard in I get the Bach light on the screen so I know it's powering but no display

Ok good news. It could of been trying to load before and kept getting interrupted. This is a big update, so give it time and let it finish. It will reboot itself, but leave the USB in until it tells you to remove it.

Remember, after this update, if all goes well, you may find some issues with parking sensors playing up and other info may not be displayed. If this happens it needs the parameters configuring again. Diagbix will be needed to do this. Let us know how it goes.

CRC is at 78% it could still fail as it's a burnt CD but it does mean if this don't work.. the CD from Citroen should do.

I read about the Bluetooth echo issues..
I'm assuming this has to be fixed by Citroen

The Digibox option is that something I can do or again best to go to Citroen?

Yes you need Diagbox to hook up to the vehicle and configure the head unit ECU / BSI parameters if some things are not working correctly.

The dealer will charge you diagnostic time (circa £90 an hour); but should be able to both download the correct parameters for your options and apply the Bluetooth calibration file.

Try the update first, then go through all the settings and configure them as you want (audio options) then try your reversing system and see if that works ok. You may be lucky, it affects different vehicles in different ways.

Good Morning - GiveMeABreak looks like im making progress couple of new questions if you dont mind

So looks like a second attempt with the CD Worked!

Is it still worth Getting the official CD from the dealer? :?:
What Diagbox do you recommend (link) and would this correct the below issues? =P~
Will Mirascript fix anything? 8-[

i now have:

Radio (wont keep memory on stations)
Front and rear reversing sensors (quieter than normal but working)
CD working
Aux Option

Whats not quiet right

Buttons on the unit its self - jumbled not doing as they sould
Cant set Clock
Dont have any settings option - so cant setup bluetooth etc
Peugeot logo instead of Citroen
i expect there are a few more things that will come to mind once i start getting it back to a working state.

Had another look today.

I still have the old 8GB SD card and sticking in the PC i can see three partions 2 of which i can access can anything be used/salavaged and put on the other Car?
Maps
Settings
configurations

after a lot of digging around last night - i came across the Bluetooth Echo file/fix so thats ready to go
