If you don't have the language change option in the main system menu, (i.e. it is missing from where it is supposed to be in the manual), then it will need reprogramming at the dealer. Firmware 2.86 is a major update and applying this firmware will often revert certain settings to defaults. It can't be changed using Diagbox either as the ECU goes into secure mode needing a PSA dealer with access to their servers to reconfigure it according to your VIN and language.

Ok, so this is not unusual!

Just tell them to treat it as if you were having a new (non pre-configured) RT6 unit installed and to follow the procedure to telecode it via Diagbox and ensure that all the vehicle options and language are correct afterwards.

Hello,

I just succeded in replacing the SD card as helpfully described ba Marc, thanks.
I replaced it before it failed catastrophicly. The only symptoms I had sudden shut-off of the RT6 system - without warning. By pressing the ON button the system resumed working as nothing has happened. This happened to me twice, with a couple of weeks in between. I was advised by two more knowing guys from Slovenian Citroen forum that it is probably the SD card, and I should clone it clone before it fails completly.
I have done just that, and it works. Hopefully the shut-off will not repeat itself.
The process is quite simple, you just use some USB stick cloning tool. I have used 16GB card, the original is 8GB, there seems to be no issue.

Thanks for all the help - maybe the above information helps somebody.

No, because PSA don't touch these for repairs - they send them off to an approved repair centre like the Clarion Centre.

It's for us mere mortals to find ways to fix them where we can - and at the stage people get to when they come here they usually have nothing to lose prior to sourcing a second hand unit of they can.

The guide is in my first post on this thread.

Well the units should be able to be programmed - in other words they do not supply an RT6 for every language....

So the dealer should be able to do this either in the BSI or in the RT6 configuration menu which you won't be able to access yourself with Diagbox if it is in secure mode.

If the dealer does not know how to do this, then they need to contact Peugeot in France (for whom they have technical support) who will instruct them. Many who have updated from a very eary version of firmware directly to 2.86b seem to have the issues. Less so with those that go in small stages of firmware updates. Those who find the the default configuration is reset after the 2.86b update have all managed to get it resolved with the dealer - but not all dealers have the same experience of this remember.

Hi. I have a 508GT from 2012. I need the firmware for RT6. Unfortunately, I don't know what version it is? I have never changed the software so it should be version 2012. Can someone share this software version for me?

Have you read and understood the warnings first?

2012 is a model year, not a firmware version. It would be better if you first checked the version of your firmware first of all, as going up in small stages is often better than a big jump and may reduce the risk of losing settings or the RT6 reverting to factory defaults. Even if you do go up in firmware increments, there is still a high risk that you may need to take it to Peugeot to have the RT6 reconfigured if it does get reset.

Start car, press SETUP button for about 3 seconds, then select 'radio-telephone diagnosis', then select 'Unit Description' and let me know what it says.

Marc, unfortunately my RT6 keeps restarting all the time. I cannot check the software version. When I wrote "2012" I meant the year of production of the car.

So at this stage you may have a bad internal SD card so trying a firmware update may not help if the card is at end of life. I would suggest you have nothing to lose by trying to replace the micro SD card at this stage.

If you don't know what firmware you have this could be problematic and I would suggest you first try a lower version and see if that works, then if not the next version, leaving the final V2.86 until last, as that will very likely reset your system to default values requiring a dealer configuration.

I will send you a PM with links to the ISO files - from these make a CD from the ISO at LOW burning speed on a CD-R. Then you can try and boot off the CD and see if it will try and install the firmware. If not, you may have to try the Micro SD card replacement as specified in the guide at the beginning of this thread, then try one of the firmware CDs again on completion. If all that fails, you may need another unit.
