2014 c4 picasso vtr cabin blower/fan not blowing very much

Post by jammie123321 »

Hi wonder if anybody can help me out I've got a c4 Picasso 2014 model and the fan/blower speed is very slow even tho is on full in the controls. I changed the pollen filters the other day and it's not made any difference. Is there a resistor or something else that could have gone? The fan does work just very low output from it

Thanks

Normally when the blower motor resistor has gone, it’s usually full speed or nothing. Pop your VIN up so we know exactly the model and options fitted as these all, have different climate systems according to trim.

I just wondered if it was like a resistor or a sticky fan motor

Ok, so you have the Automatic Air Conditioning System with SMEG control (Touchscreen controls).

Looking at the parts diagram the blower control module is item 3 on the diagram.
C4 Blower motor.PNG
This is part number: 9821291880. It costs £141.28 from Citroen inc. VAT

A DENSO one here for £57

https://www.euspares.co.uk/search-autop ... 9821291880

I am not personally familiar with this system and failures seem few and far between. If you asjust the fan from the lowest setting and gradually crank it up a segment at a time, does the motor speed and output also increase? If id does increase through each segment on the display, then I doubt it is this control unit. Before testing, ensure all the front fascia vents are open and change the air direction to front vents only, for easier testing. You should be able to tell if it is then working through all speeds.

On some models there is an additional air puller unit (probably on the Exclusive) for the rear passengers (item 10 on the diagram) to increase the airflow, but I know from your VIN that you don't have this unit.

Hi did as you suggested and the fan does get stronger after every push of the button giving it time to adjust. So it seems it working ok. But just not very powerful

Thanks for your help on this

Also it does have the air vents on the middle door piller for the rear passengers. Is this a stand at fitment?

Yes, I have those on my C5 X7. It's just on the higher spec models and probably on the larger version, where they have incorporated an additional blower motor unit and an additional electronic control for the rear passengers A/C function.

Is there any more vents in the engine bay? That could be blocked,

I would certainly check your Pollen filter - that is the one thing that can get stuffed full of bugs and other crud: see what came out of mine when I did the C5 - and I had it changed once already -

https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 22&t=56903

That will certainly affect blower efficiency. I'll have a look to see where it is on yours momentarily ...

The OP states (in his first post in this thread) that he changed the pollen filter the other day, and it did not make a difference.

Did you change both of them as there are 2 on this vehicle?

Also check that there are no leaves, and other mulch in any of the outside air grilles that could be restricting air flow.

Yea I changed both of them. Looks like they hadn't been changed since the car was made lol. I had a look to see where abouts there intake is but couldn't see it? That could be blocked? I'm guessing there's some kind of mesh covering them that could be blocked

The scuttle is just below the wiper arms:- (which have to be removed to get the scuttle off - and I suspect a bit difficult to see what is underneath without removing it..
