It’s a silly thought from me Gibbo, but maybe they are just b***ers to start after air gets in the system. Yes they should self bleed after a few crankings, but an agricultural engineer a couple of doors down our street, of many years experience like yourself, was tearing his hair out trying to get his.ford focus diesel to start after a simple fuel filter change :)

Keep cranking till it fires into life.

No doubt you know of tricks of the trade to start it with easystart squirted into the appropriate place

I guess yours is a 16V Engine Gibbo so this "fix" suggested by Peter.N which solved a 9 month and 19 page nightmare of a C5 HDi non-starting problem for member jgra1 may be relevant. For the 8valve HDI Peter.N. suggested a fix to a microfine stainless steel filter in the Fuel regulator (may not apply to the 16v dont know)

No need to read all 19 pages you could start here with the happy ending :-D

Thanks Neil but it's not my problem.

Any chance of a wiring diagram for this car engine Marc?

Somebody gave me a Haynes but it's not a bit useful, full of '"Take it to the dealer." and 'typical' wiring diagrams instead of anything specifics.

Nope Neil, still sitting there like a beached whale, I've checked everything I can see, gone over again all the glow plug stuff I worked on, changed the pressure sensors and the hp pump but the eml is still on, it will fire if I give it a blast of Easy start but nothing without, battery's fine and it turns over fast enough.

Still haven't got a working Lexia but I'm trying.

My neighbour popped round yesterday, said "This has become a challenge now hasn't it Eric." it certainly has. :x

The Corsa is doing a great job, all good apart from a dodgy aftermarket JVC audio, radio works sometimes CD player doesn't, it will draw in the disc but not play but not a problem as I'm not a great lover of in car entertainment.

Well I've got the snotty thing running.....sort of, went back to basics, put the diag stuff aside, bled the system out right up to the injectors gave it a blast of easy start and it started and kept running but seemingly in get you home mode, wouldn't rev more than 3k rpm, left it running for almost an hour then got the WoW snooper on it.
It chucked up a pile of fault codes some of which I'm hoping are related, the main thing I think is that there is an injector leak back causing the fuel rail pressure to fall too low but some of the faults that showed up before have returned.

So I have P1350..P1351..P1198...P0087...P0402...P2408 the last three are repeated on the EOBD par of the test.

Also have Anti lock brake faults listed 'Engine torque control' and 'Engine control unit communication; Incorrect value received.'

Before I knocked off the engine would rev freely as though back to normal

Out of time now so back to it on Monday.

Thats more like it. I suspect the ECU is just in the huff because because an old school mechanic has managed to start the b****r without consulting it first! Spitting out a few old bogus codes just out of pure spite!

Progress :-D
