C5 X7 Electric Window Stuck

Post by Tony H »

2009 C5 X7 Estate 2.0hdi exclusive

My driver side window will only move about one inch up or down.

I have stripped the door card off and below is a video and pictures of the mechanism.

Can anyone work out what is wrong and what part is needed to fix please?

Not sure how its ment to work or what I am looking at.

Thanks

Ok, so from the pictures, it looks like the anti-pinch / motor protection function is kicking in because of the resistance being detected when opening and closing. From looking at this, the regulator wire seems to have shred and has accumulated in the pulley mechanism causing it to become jammed.

I wouldn't keep winding the window up and down or the wire is likely to snap leaving the window possible open.

You'll need a new regulator assembly by the looks of it as that wire will only jam again in that condition.

Pop up your VIN here if yu want the part number.

(Note: for future ref. if you open the full editor, you can attach your images directly without using a third party host (useful if you ever close the account - so the pics are maintained here, plus it provides us with some zooming facilities).

Here you go, item 3
regulator.PNG
Original Part number: 9675898980 £412.46
or cheaper Citroen one - Part number: 1619991280 £119.75

With these part numbers, you can search for alternatives on the market if you prefer.

I ended up fixing this with one of the cheap ebay kits that replaces the pulley and cables only. About £6.

I only did it this way as I wanted to have a go and learn I knew full well it wasnt worth the grief.

For £30/40 you can get a fully dressed pattern mechanism that you just swap your motor onto. This is probably the way to go DIY.

But if you take no joy from mending the car yourself you would be best just paying a garage to sort it.

That's around the price I paid for my n/side kit a year ago. An easy fit and stilll working fine. I also got the o/side as well, thinking that it might also break, but so far still ok.
