Even more fun for the bored :-D

At this site you can 'see' the output from the various generating sites in the UK over the last year, but I wouldn't want to swear on a stack of bibles to its accuracy :?

https://ed.c4cs.org.uk/bmrdaysite

Add the site(s) you want from the right hand column and then update the graph.

Here's the plot for my local offshore windfarm - Rampion. The peaks show the farm more or less at flat out production, the troughs speak for themselves.

It's a heck of a way to crack walnuts! Note the lack of protective fencing at the bottom of the gantry. But hey ho, who would notice one less Lower Leith Trainspotter.

SMART meters, everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask.

Considering it, mainly to get access to cheaper tariffs, and stumbled across this site in my delving. Being a rural area our current supplier good old Spanish (Scottish) Power were a bit dismissive on their automated assessment of fitting a smart meter after tapping in our postcode due to communications difficulties regarding strength of signal. Octopus were more confident.

There are two main types of smart meters – the older models known as SMETS 1 (Smart Meter Equipment Technical Specifications) and the newer versions that were rolled out in 2018, known as SMETS 2.

SMETS2 use in Scotland and the North of England Long-Range Radio communications (LRR) is used by Arqiva Limited in Scotland and the North of England. The LRR system uses infrastructure and technology similar to that already used for other important national communications networks, such as those for emergency services and keeping lifeboat stations connected. Communication towers communicate directly with smart meter Communications Hubs in homes. By 2021 Arqiva Limited will have achieved their contacted coverage of at least 99.5%.

Surely we can't be in the 0.5% wilderness :-D

Anyway heavy going but if the SMART meter chapter and verse isn't somewhere in the pages of this, I'd be very surprised...

I continue to resist their generous offer of a smart meter.

I only caught the tail end of it earlier, but on Money Box (Radio 4) today it was all about community energy projects.

"Would you like to generate your electricity through a local, renewable energy project rather than buying it from a big supplier?
In this episode, Adam Shaw and guests consider the costs and practicalities of setting up and running community-led energy projects, do such initiatives make financial and environmental sense? Joining Adam are:
Jodie Giles, head of community and local energy at Regen
Tanuja Pandit, director of Power Up North London
Steve Shaw, the director of Power for People"

Plenty investors backing wind and solar projects, good to here activity in our region. I've watched the platforms sailing by up at Craster. https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 97#p660797
