Obviously it'd come down to a 'he said - she said' type argument, ......and that's where a dashcam can earn its keep. :)
Mme Vic was waiting in a queue to enter a school where a vide grenier (sort of sale thing where folk sell their 'junk') was being held. The old guy in front put his car in reverse, backed up, hooked his tow hitch under Mme's C4s wheel arch, pulled away & ripped the 'bumper' almost off.
Here in France there's an insurance form where both parties describe the accident, sign it & hand a copy to the other party. His form described Mme as driving into him & he refused to alter it. As usual all witnesses had melted away so it was her word against his making it a 50/50 claim with all that entailed.
When she arrived home somewhat desolate her face lit up when I reminded her I'd fitted a dashcam to her car which she'd completely forgotten in her angst.
A quick look clearly showed the old lying gits reverse light come on & his car reversing into Mme & was readily accepted by our insurers with no loss to us.
Sixty euros well spent.

I like the 'lying old git' bit, in all my years in the motor trade I've only met two motorists who caused an accident. :-D

He was a lying old git & so was his wife.
The day after the 'accident' I went to his house to try to show him the video so he could change the lie he made on his insurance form. His missus answered the door & told me he wasn't in. I insisted on showing her the vid. & explained that in view of the evidence he really should change his statement. She didn't want to know so I persisted whilst she tried in vane to get me out of the hall where I'd positioned myself.
Eventually the old git showed himself from where he'd been hiding & told me to "go away" which I did after telling him a few home truths in my best common franglais.
On the way home I dropped into the local police station, told them the problem & left a copy of the video explaining that he really shouldn't be driving cars & lying on insurance statements .
No idea what happened but I hope the police & his insurance co penalised the lying old git who eventually cost them over 2,000 €.

Dug himself into a big hole when it could have been resolve quickly, cheaply and amicably had he only had a bit of integrity.

Off on a 35km hike tomorrow but using the bike to save my feet about 6 miles of road travel around Wast Water in the Lake District…(must remember to collect the bike on my way home #-o )

18” mountain bike with 26” wheels (fitted - ready to ride) just about fits in the sAXo and I’m also thinking of taking the seats with me as a ‘sAXfo bed’ option for a kip on  if needed.

Wow  That looks like a magical adventure Skull :D

Shows how roomy the AX is - it has a bigger load area than the Saxo and I can fit my bike in without removing the back seat. I never could in a Saxo.

I do have to remove the bile's front wheel though...

Do let us know how the hike went - with lots of pictures ;)

OK Jim

Here you go, early start the sheep sleep on the roads around Wasdale as it’s warmer - they weren’t chuffed by me disturbing their kip

Thursday’s plan was to cover 35km (cycle 9km and hike 26 km) and do 9 Wainwright’s but due to high winds and reduced visibility in cloud a couple of enroute re-evaluations as fatigue and leg cramps started to set in we, (myself and I) decided to play safe and return to the Wasdale Head Inn for a meal and then the sAXo for an overnight kip.
IMG_4365 (1).jpeg
Friday was better weather than forecast and I decided to go back up for the last 2 Wainwright’s to complete 214 summits within 6 months …

The penalty for yesterday’s decision was a further 970 metre ascent (600 extra) but if the rumours are true the hills will still be there today ….

Better views today:

Part of my route for 4th and 5th summits: WHIN RIGG and ILLGILL HEAD

If it was a ‘Spree’ model in front of The Scree’s it would be a great Citroen advert - but it’s a ‘Memphis’ so no word-play [-X

DON’T forget to collect the bike from it’s overnight parking spot! ?

Bike saved me at least 90 minutes road walking

It's been a gorgeous sunny and warm day down this way so I interrupted automotive activities to do some much needed duathlon training :)

I was warm enough for me to wear my trisuit with just a long-sleeve base layer underneath. I was perfectly warm whilst cycling, even in the wind-chill although during the run I was too warm
The bike bit...
The bike bit...
The running bit...
The running bit...
I was pleased to find my legs are still able to run quite well straight off the bike - the most difficult part of any multisport - despite not seriously having duathlon trained for some while.

This was in addition to a 6.66 mile run earlier :)

Skull’s - mountain bike ride
Skull’s - mountain bike ride
First serious ride sine I done my ‘virtual LEJoG’ ride.

It felt faster than that - flowed through the junctions, hardly any traffic, wind seemed to be on-side most of the route so 13.5 mph was a little disappointing especially with my new ‘climber’ gearing 8-[ and I suffered a weird bum / upper leg stiffness verging on a cramp during the last mile or so - maybe too much use of a different muscle group after all my hiking 🥾 🥾 despite being fitter overall?

Great riding Skull :) I've not done a ride in November yet... Too busy on Bluebell, baking and preparing for parkruns this weekend!

On the feelings near the end, you may need to check your bike fit. Seat height and reach to the bars may need a bit of a tweak...

Cheers Jim it's better after a stretch and hot bath but it does seem to be tender around my pelvis bone / seat area rather than muscular - I've had similar but milder before - unfortunately there isn't a great amount of fine adjustment on the old girl so I guess I will need a new bike  or a fatter 4rse :dunno:
