That's worrying then! Jim's instructions state ensure ALL internet connections are on! This is presumably only for installing Diagbox but I didn't realise that at the time.. I've already run Diagbox with the internet connections enabled though I have not connected it to a car yet.

How would I know if it is blocked and is this why Jim tells you to save a copy of the licence file to your desktop?

Yes.
Becase when you undertake some procedures it will ask for an ID, then it generally connects up to the servers and will deactivate. I’ve seen it do this loads of times.

I take it that it's not wise to add your Service Citroen login then...

Jim said that to me as well and I did confirm that it doesn't matter. Today when I was playing with the 308 the Connecting to Server box came up many times and I just clicked on the red cross (twice) to decline with no ill effects.

The issue is not that - declining is the right thing to do - but depending on the procedure you are undertaking (and to be specific, I'm talking about ECU configuration), where it asks to identify yourself and if you then decline it cancels the procedure and deactivates Diagbox.

Don't ask me what procedures - it varies and depends on the type of operation where it would usually ask for the technician's ID and log in.

This won't be a problem for most of you though with fault reading and clearing.

I have another problem in that case. There appears to be no hotkey or slider switch to turn the WiFi off.

If the installation is deactivated then is it just a matter of copying over the saved copy of appdiag.sys?

So if you accidentally somehow find yourself in this situation, do you just give it a look like Peter Griffin who doesn't want to be noticed, switch off the internet and slowly back away from the laptop on tip toes?

If you decline you're shot, if you accept you're shot! Damned if you do! Damned if you don't!

I suppose an 'internet crash' is the only solution. Would love to know for that moment of realisation when I find myself in this position. Again, perhaps this is why Jim clearly states save your licence file. I've no idea.

There should be an icon somewhere to manage wifi connections.

True.

Hmm, I wonder if I can set the router up to bar requests to whatever URL PSA uses?

Turn the router off while you work, block any others on your list to prevent any unwanted connections.

All you need to do is disconnect from the active network connection and ensure that 'Automatically Connect' is not ticked when you next connect and log in with the password, so it doesn't auto connect back up later. That way you can leave your Wi-Fi / network adapter enabled at the hardware level. This isn't a problem usually for dedicated diagnostics laptops as you should rarely need internet access.

I have a feeling that Jim’s setup procedure prevents them because I did a clean Windows install and the Wi-Fi will not automatically connect at all. I have to disable the adapter, re-enable it then press Fn+F2 to initialise the wireless adapter on my laptop and then refresh and networks come up. It’s a right pain but possibly a fail-safe he may have had written in to 7.57?

I also read somewhere that the Lexia will read Mitsubishi. Does that need separate software? Reason I ask is we have a Smart as a runaround At the moment and I believe they are Mitsubishi engines.

I think that is because the Citroen 'C-Crosser' is basically the Mitsubishi Outlander and they use Diagbox as it is basically the same vehicle. My understanding is they actually select C-Crosser as the vehicle, so won't work with other Mitsi models.
