Model 3 and an Ironiq.
Probably missed loads. Did have a look in the car park at Consett Tesco but nothing there.

The horror of horrors, on the way home, oil light came on

....... well, it'll almost certainly be an improvement on suntan oil, but probably not as good as olive oil

Had a run up to Ravensthorpe today which will be documented elsewhere but while on the road I saw 2 BMW i3's, 3 Tesla model 3's 2 white, 1 black, a Tesla model S in grey and I think a Hyundai Ioniq but I'm not certain, it was metallic crimson. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Fires caused by public putting lithium batteries into the general waste are an incredibly common occurrence. It's normally the household waste recycling centre (the 'tip') or the waste transfer station that goes up in flames, but occasionally it can be the refuse wagon where the best solution - as the driver did in the Northern Echo article - is to dump the load on the street as quickly as possible and let it burn out there. No matter how many times the public are reminded, they still chuck lithium batteries out in their general waste #-o

Yesterday's spots were lots of Leafs a smattering of Tesla's and BMWi3's but undoubtedly the pièce de résistance was this the Renault Fluence ZE. The first EV Saloon Car, and at its inception a "battery swap" in 3 minutes pioneer in a couple of countries, which subsequenly didn't progress. NIO have recently picked up that particular ball, and in contrast to Renault, put a lot of energy into it and expanded it across China as part of their NIO customers exclusive club.

NIO also appear to want to sell their cars which in the early days of the Renault Fluence, Renault appeared to be making it as difficult as possible with the millstone of their leased battery arrangements, which killed any residual value for the cars. At the time the choice was a Leaf, a Zoe or a Fluence and the Fluence should have done equally as well as the other two. In the UK Renault didn't try very hard with the Zoe either.

Worth looking back to 2011 which was the pioneering days of the "modern" Electric car. Ten years ago, and Robert Llewellyn a pioneering youtuber with his "Fully Charged" early days. Worth watching for that alone, but he also does a piece on the Renault Fluence. Worth a full watch, but from at 10.12

Robert makes the statement
"The main thing that's likely to change and therefore improve in electric vehicles is batteries"

Andy Heiron, Renault head of EV programme in the UK, sitting alongside did a fairly decent non-verbal "Naah talking rubbish there Robert" without the benefit of hindsight to edit his subsequent remarks.

Teslas Teslas everywhere but mostly white and one grey, We now have at least one ID3 round these parts. Could well be a stonewashed blue metallic with black roof.

Also spotted another Leaf in this classic shape and colour :-D
