Well what are you lot missing today? Good company, a 205 that is misbehaving and loads of wet stuff falling out of the sky! And a decent meal actually at a reasonable price. And seeing this beauty in Mallaig. The only photos today, too wet for them

Chris and I thought about you Jim, thinking you would have loved seeing, hearing and smelling it! My curse of front left wheel problems struck Chris's XM today. A horrid vibration set in, one tyre out of round with the tread splitting so will need a tyre hunt. We are in his car, left lilpug in fort willie.

Thought my ears were burning too! Seriously, yes, I would have - there's just nothing like being up close to a living, breathing steam locomotive... I find it a very emotional experience!

Hope the car problems can soon be fixed with ease [-o<

Front left tyre inspected almost on the beach at Applecross. Jacked up and ran the wheel - out of round and a bit of sideways run-out. New pair of Energy Savers lined up at Inverness for Saturday morning. Davie a mine of info on all things tyres!

Drizzle continues for mornings, but lunchtime onwards bright and blue skies. Well-damped scenery stunning. Torrodon -> Ullapool via Achnasheen and Gairloch today.

I had my first taste of driving an Xm yesterday. Chris's car is a 2.5td manual with added oooomph. She's a lovely thing to be in and drive. Really comfortable and powerful. His front tyres are dying of old age, not usage and he can't wait to get to Inverness to get them replaced. The tread on the one we took off is delaminating from the carcass despite being only 1/2 worn, but he thinks maybe 6 or 7 years old. The other is just starting to go.

I haven't really taken many photos this time, as I took quite a few last time. We have been some places I missed out when I did the speed run around

Well I have enjoyed playing my own personal wheresthisthen? with the lighthouse.

Thought it's got to be Rua Reidh near Gairloch, and it is the same colour scheme but it wasn't right. Rua Reidh is much taller, the boundary walls are different...it just isn't Rua Reidh!

But it is Stoer Head Lighthouse near Lochinver!

and if I have it right that bridge is a lot more curvy than it looks in the photo

Kylesku Bridge over Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin?

Regards Neil

Ps if you want to see how it was done before the bridge was built nice nostalgic picture of the ferry on "notices what have you spotted!"

Now that is going to be difficult....no clues at all. It has a Lucas headlight so its British I would have thought.
It has vertical "fins" on the grill and round wing mirrors on the wing. Its shiny black, and has a little "side Light" on the wing. Could ebven be a sort of Bottle green and black 2-tone.

Wouldnt even be surprised if there was a Winkworth bell at the other side and it was some kind of Police Vehicle maybe a Wolseley.

Just initial thoughts. Now I wonder has it been part of your trip, or from another event you may have been at.

Virtually impossible Davie without further clues but I'll give it a go!

Regards Neil

PS as with all of these guessing games a little question like "am I getting warm?" sometimes helps!

I think my best guess for tonight is going to be a Riley of some description.

I think the headlights and the wing/mirror sidelight arrangement fit reasonably well

something like this

I have seen Messcherschmitt's that colour, but if that is a wheel arch, looks a bit narrow, and if thats a side light not the right shape..should have looked a bit closer its a petrol cap of course!...so I guess, my first guess is wrong :-D
