At the end of the day they are computers and are logical - if an incorrect value or parameter has been entered accidentally or otherwise it would certainly help explain why it won't engage. The question is what though? One way to help eliminate any anomalies would be to undertake a Diagbox comparison with another X7 owner with an Auto box, either via the phone or using printouts of each screen - a bit arduous, but if you were to look at the most obvious places first, that might be one way. Citroen would have to charge the labour to do this and there probably won't be any guarantee they would know what to look for - it's not the same as following a fault diagnostic tree! If you were to say focus on the transmission area that might at least eliminate any inconsistencies. I would help, but don't have an auto, but if there are any other settings you want me to compare, just shout.
Thanks I'll dig into those areas, see if anything looks strange and take a few screenshots. One other odd thing I have found while removing the trim under the glove box (not the one in the glovebox) to get at the brake switch are 3 loose wires on the very left hand side directly where all the relays are. They have been cleanly cut and are wrapped in like a thin protective foam but they're not connected to anything so I'm not sure if it was like that from the factory. Seems odd that snipped bare wires would be left exposed like that from new but you never know. It's close to where a clutch pedal would be on a left hand drive so wonder if that could be connected.
