Re: Picture(s) of the day....
These at the rear of my grandson's car where I parked it.
There were lots more of them too. Not a clue what they are (should have looked closer) but once there were thousands of the little nitrous oxide cylinders in the same place.
This allotment where my wife used to have hers always seems to have union flags flying, not so many today but this one was different. Platinum Jubblee.
This was a surprise. An amazing display of poppies, probably to hide the culvert that seems to be there for no particular reason. Rubbish photo's that as usual that don't go anywhere near to the reality.
A manhole cover, looked the kind of thing to interest Neil.

Nice to notice "whats in bloom" and these flowers I always associate with trips to the coast, red hot pokers.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
While visiting Hertford this morning I had one of those happy accidents!! The camera clicked as I was taking it out of its case and I ended up with this entry for the shadow art club!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Have you ever used a bit of fluffy white cloud on purpose to act as a contrast to silhouette a swallow which has flown all the way from Africa to perch momentarily on a Northumberland telegraph wire...
British swallows spend their winter in South Africa - they travel through western France, across the Pyrenees, down eastern Spain into Morocco and across the Sahara. Some birds follow the west coast of Africa avoiding the Sahara.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Not a bad view from my hotel room tonight.
Same frontage, but through the trees when I was walking back from the convention hotel to where I'm staying (a whole 160 metres away, so a terribly strenuous walk...).
I still love the camera in this phone.
I was *supposed* to have a roll of Kodak Vision3 to shoot this weekend...but I'm an idiot and forgot to pack it. Excuse me while I go bash my head against the nearest wall.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Mine drives me nuts. It does seem quite capable but I have difficulty seeing the screen in daylight, so aiming it is fairly random, also it seems to have strange ideas of where to focus but worse is it seems to want to decide what I want for me.Zel wrote:I still love the camera in this phone.
Yesterday while taking snaps of electric cars it changed to video, and I hate 'home videos' and also tried to take pictures of me, never a good idea.
I had intended to take a proper camera with me and stupidly left it at home.

Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Galloping through the sward
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
And his horse concorde
He steals from the rich
And gives to the poor
Mr Moore, Mr Moore, Mr Moore
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Riding through the night
Soon every lupin in the land
Will be in his mighty hand
He steals them from the rich
And gives them to the poor
Mr Moore, Mr Moore, Mr Moore
etc, etc.

Remember the episode well, in pre video recorder days, I recorded that one on my phillips casette recorder back in the early 70's. It also included "the Great Debate" which I have aired on the pages of the FCF.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
A couple from today.....
Near Fyning - "The church field at Terwick, near Woolbeding in the South Downs, is much loved for its striking display of colourful lupins each year. It’s a beautiful and unusual sight and people often wonder how the lupin field came to be.
The field was once owned by a Reverend Laycock who spent 40 years using it as a market garden. He planted lupins which self-seeded and bloomed year after year.
The field was later given to Mrs Jane Patterson Hodge who adored the view of the lupin flowers, in the field in front of the small picturesque church, framed by the South Downs in the background. The surrounding fields are arable farmland so Mrs Hodge wanted to ensure that the view was protected and the lupins would continue to flower.
She gifted the field to the National Trust in 1938 with the condition that lupins were grown in part of the field. The Trust accepted the gift with the promise of growing lupins as Mrs Hodge had wished. Through the decades the National Trust has worked with the Rogate community and our local farmer to try and ensure new seed is planted and the number of lupins are maintained."
