We only have the occasional black face but our roads are full of free roaming 'ship' as the Foresters call them. :)

I was in Bicester today, and I saw a red kite above me, so I got a couple of pictures. Bit tricky with the height it was at, but I got them.

Au Revoir Selkirkshire and thanks for the personal welcome and friendliness for us.
April 30th 2022 Selkirkshire's day in the spotlight
April 30th 2022 Selkirkshire's day in the spotlight
I very much enjoyed Selkirkshire's day in the spotlight, and in probably a first for the thread we decided to go on a spontaneous day out drive up to Selkirk on its FCF day in the spotlight.

Today's County in the spotlight has moved onto Antrim in Northern Ireland, so is appropriate for the following members of the FCF.

Those who live in Antrim
Those who have been to Antrim
Those who have a memory or association with Antrim
Those who have some knowledge about Antrim
Those who know nothing at all about Antrim but who are curious to find out

Surely just leaves a tiny minority of posters and viewers who can't gain any interest from the thread

Go on, dare you to join in :!: Here's the link to the thread for your posts.

The Cerna Bay - went there this weekend. The Cerna river flows into the Danube. Mehedinti County, Romania, near the border with Serbia. The forested area in the center, over the water, is Serbia.

Hopefully mine will match in a few weeks/months (slow around here) but there are so many that can't be grown due to all the slugs around here.

I was talking to my neighbour and he had been on his doorstep, he often stands out there with a glass of wine, and a load of huge yellowy-brown slugs, around 6" long, slid past him and up one of the trees.
Talking to a neighbour of my son's last week, I noticed that she had a tree wrapped in copper wire, which I though was to deter slugs doing the same, they won't cross copper.
Was LED lights, too small for me to see, like these:

I have to put sand around most things to keep slugs away, and copper tape on plant pots and the wheelie bins.

The daffodils I planted are appearing now, a handful of them. Some turned out to be tulips.

POTD Ornithology Club Day Tuesday May 3rd 2022

Nesting season. In spite of this being an unsuccessful site for its nest last year, Grey wagtails have rebuilt their nest in exactly the same place. I could have advised them, its too low down, its too open far better have it properly inside a wall with a narrow crack to squeeze through and the nest in a cavity behind it.

Just too easy for cats/rats/crows/woodpeckers/weasels/stoats or any other predator who fancies and egg or a chick for a meal.

Spoiler: show
yes "mint" as an adjective to describe the general condition which it never ever ever is, or indeed could ever be. It's worst incarnation is of course "drives mint" where the inappropriate adverb is well and truly truly massacred

I have seen lots of bleubells around here but only in clumps, not swathes like in James' photos.
Have a few more tulips out, along with some scrawny looking daffs.
There is a large bare patch that should be lots more daffs.

Mint condition - more holes in it than a packet of Polos.
