There were 2 types listed, perhaps you have the other one then:

C5 MK II Plate Light B.PNG
If you don't have the version with a screw lens, then just use a small flat head screwdriver and prise the cover off. The diagrams differ from 2013 to 2017 which is the last update.

Thanks Marc. I have managed to get the bulb swapped. If I had done a search before I asked I would have found this thread;

viewtopic.php?t=45975

But I was being lazy (my apologies for that). I used a plastics tool to pivot the lens down, and it popped off cleanly.

Me again!

Nice simple question (I suspect I know the answer, but I would like to have it confirmed). Is there any way to remove the gear lever knob on a C5 MkII (Facelift) without breaking it? I will be replacing the gearlever gaiter, and I want to know if I can safely re-use the knob.

It just pulls off James. But don’t have your face over it when you are pulling as they can be tight buggers to remove and can cost you a new set of gnashers if you are not careful.

I hope that this is a simple question to answer. I have been to the scrappy (got a few bits for the car) and I found a 6 CD autochanger (Clarion) from a similar specced C5. I have, I believe, the RT3 audio system (as did the donor car). The changer is now fitted (and runs through its' self test, and ejects the cartridge when asked). How do I 'tell' the audio system it now has the extra CD changer?

You won't have an RT3 James, that is a full telematics unit. You probably mean RD3.

The CD changer needs to be configured in the BSI using Lexia.

Possibly, Marc. She has the slot for a SIM card, Sat Nav (or should that be Sat Nag!?), and Voice Control. My new (to me) C5 is Pauls' old 07 reg VTX+ (with a fair number of toys). It looks like this one;

Let me have the VIN for this one - as I had your other 2 C5s, so obviously not correct if you've changed it again. The configuration is different if it's an RT3.

I must say that I am having a lot of good fun with her! She needs a bit of work, but sports suspension on an estate car is a hoot!

Sorry I was a bit late getting back - had a call to go and rescue a neighbour that had fallen over.

Ok, so this one has the older version of the RT4 fitted for reference James.

So you need to actually configure the 'Multi-Function screen ECU for this system.

So run the diagnostic, Locate the multi-function screen ECU, select this, then locate the configuration section. The option you are looking for will be :

CD changer Option, and set it to 'Present'. Careful not to change anything else there as some options are designed to be defaulted and are often not what they seem.

Thanks, Marc. Don't worry about the delay; your 'distressed' neighbour is FAR more important.

OK, well, I have made some progress. I suspect that, as I am running DiagBox 7.15 on a rev B unit (and yes, it IS running), the menu options may not be as expected. I have managed to get her to see the CD autochanger (that was an interesting experience; originally showing up with a fault, but that is no longer the case), but she does not 'see' two devices in the main diagnostic menu; Radio and Multi Function Screen (going into the options I get a failure of communication type of error). There is a Telematics option, and this is showing up an an RT5 unit. I suspect I may have to get a more up-to-date Lexia, but the software does show all three C5 options in the selection menu (and it has successfully activated the DRLs on an X7).

I hope that this is a nice and simple question to answer. Do the heated front seats require a Maxi fuse to be installed (and, if so, where and what value)? The motors are working properly (so they both travel as they should), and all four fuses are fitted in the smaller 'glove box' fuse board. I just am not getting any warmth from either seat. Thanks.

Are you planning to install different seats then if this is for your C5 ending 828 - as they aren't fitted on this vehicle?

If so, the fuse for seats is in the BH12 fuse box in the passenger compartment, Fuse F40 for both Passenger and Driver's Heated Seats. This is then supplied by Maxi Fuse MF6.
