Well I have to conclude Marina/Ital day as a success.

Nice to take a random spot of an everyday classic, and find a bit more out about them. My original spot is still there at the garage today, parked the other way round. I certainly enjoyed the entertainment it provided.

Just have to hope I don't spot a "Princess" today, our friend at the youtube channel Twin Cam, does a 20 minute video on quite the most boring brochure ever produced by BL, with the most boring poor quality pictures you could ever take of what could be a very photogenic vehicle.

I have to agree with bobins it is an RX7, Mazda's first foray into the rotary engine world. There is argument about the exact cc of the Wankel engine but it is generally quoted as 1300cc producing a huge amount of power, TOH I can't remember the exact figure but I think it is 230+ bhp. They go like stink and drink like fishes but are tremendous fun. As is often said 'You can't be a true petrol head unless you've owned an Alfa" Well I think you need to have driven a rotary engine to attain full status. My mate Dave, who is a shareholder in the mancave I refer to occasionally, had one and it was huge fun but just too expensive to run. So if you get the chance to have a go, grasp it and have some fun. :-D

I am not sure it is Mick, although I can confirm with a check. Shove a pic of the early RX7 side on next to it.
I am thinking its something made in the UK. Knowing the bloke I do know he had a couple of Lotus Elan's in his stable so when I took the pic I just assumed it was some version of a Lotus Elan.

After the MX7 guess, I had a look again and the best match I get is yes a UK made vehicle, featured on the FCF before and made in Steve's backyard.

Off to pick the Leaf up so I'll see if I dare sneak round and get a confirmation. Not saying its not an RX7, but it would be a bit of a departure for the owner.

Having had a closer look, still on the phone though, it could be a Clan. I did take bobins view on face value as I only have the phone and he's not often wrong :-D, so by zooming the wedge front end is not Rx shaped. In which case all I know is that they were a small company copy of the elan, designed I believe as a kit car or have it built for you. Not very good build quality either way but cheap!! :-D

Had a nice chat with the owner, It is indeed a Clan Crusader. He bought it unseen in the flesh as a project, but conclude that there was too much to do, so he has sold it on so it will be away by the end of the week. He also has an absolutely gorgeous bright yellow Lotus Elan which he has spent the best part of 25 years restoring to absolutely pristine condition.
