Excellent photo jim, you got the most important bit the reg-no. That one was easy enough to identify, but with something more difficult...reg no is a good start.

Date of Manufacture 1969, Date of First Registration November 1976

Either took a long time to sell, or maybe an import?

Seen a few classics recently that to be honest I'm not that interested in. There were 2 Maserati's all sleek shiny and low with nice interiors and pretty new, and the Ferrari which I photographed the reflection of the dog in, and a group of 4 different colours of what I imagine were Lotus of some description, got the reg of one to confirm but when I got home we must have transposed or misread the letters. this is what we wrote down BO 56 NCL. It ain't that cos it doesnt exist on the DVLA database so something wasnt quite right.

I do get more excited about spots of "Everyday" classics. There was one of turn your head gorgeousness not in the category of everyday classics, a dark blue alfa romeo of the GT Junior sort of look. Flashed past and didnt get the reg no so not sure of the exact model.

Sort of like this

I love the plate. It would look great on my Saxo :D

Gosh! Most likely an import Neil... I did it with an MG Metro I brought home from Cyprus in 1985. It received an age-related plate when I registered it in the UK. A lot of cars were imported back to the UK by forces serving overseas and my money is on this being one. Either spent its early days in Cyprus or Germany...

Or, it could have been a diplomat...

I seem to recall when I was a lad UK cars owned by British Forces and initially exported from the UK in Germany wore special and distinctive black/white number plates either beginning or ending with a 'B'. They were discontinued when it was appreciated they made it obvious it was British Forces and therefore potential terrorist targets...

I used to see lots as there was a specialist dealer in Bridgewater at the time - not far from my home...

UK cars to be exported by 'Civvies' used to have number plates with a red border as I recall...

Registration numbers in Spain just come off a central computer, and progress by one digit for each new one.
No vowels, so it started on around 1 Jan 2000 with
0000 BBB
then 0001 BBB, 0002 BBB, until 9999 BBB was reached.
Then 0000 BBC . . . 9999 BBC . . . 0000 BBD . . . . .
. . . 9999 BZZ (this takes a while!) . . . and finally the release of the C's: 0000 CBB etc etc.

We're currently on Lxxx xxxx.
No vowels, so no names, but Y is used, so you do get FLY etc.

Any imports, even elderly ones, just get the latest brand-new number, so our 1996 XM is 7230 GGC, way out of date sequence. Just occasionally, the system classes these old timers as new ones, so doesn't demand an ITV (MoT) test until four years later!

I now know that this was one of those 4 cars, so if anyone takes more interest in such things than me pretty easy....

Correct. Well done Mick. Thanks for dispatching it so quickly. Would you have recognised 4 of them streaming past as you courteously gave way to them through a bit of road narrowing?

Autotrader Vehicle Check describes it as MCLAREN 720S V8 S-A 2019

The Maseratis I couldnt be bothered even to take a reg and look up.....could you get them form my description alone
There were 2 Maserati's all sleek shiny and low with nice interiors and pretty new
and in additional information they were two door but did have seats in the back which no doubt would be very comfortable if you enjoy zero headroom and being bent double. Lengthy sort of thing, demurish colours, but I could imagine folks who like that sort of thing standing around and moderately pwhoaring.

Your description sounds like Granturismo which I would describe as a cross between an Aston Martin DB9 (front end) and an Jaguar XK8 (rear)? :)

Nice looking thing in the Maserati tradition. Unlike the dreadful SUglyV thing.
One of my son's neighbours has one, depressing looking heap.

Have noticed that one of the houses in that little cul-de-sac where it lives has a 52-reg C5 and a Renault thingy.

Yes I think that fits the bill Mick. Cant remember what reg they were...one of them was more of a dull red but still shiny if you know what I mean, it was more plummy and definitely not scarlet or orangey. Quite like this. Colour was nice :-D

Isn't it odd how the change of colour and camera angle makes your picture look higher and narrower than the more squatted image in my pictures? :-D
