Ignoring the Mk 4 (5?) Cortina on Saturday, later in the day - a yellow Rolls-Royce in Newton Abbot; no, not THAT one, but a banana Shadow II. Later on the same journey a Ferrari (dunno, it was red!) going through Kingskerswell towards Torquay.

On Sunday, tail of a black MGB (with Minilites & large Castrol wreaths on the rear wings) just visible in a packed Torquay Lidl's carpark &, as I was leaving (too busy for me) an original looking, maroon 105E Anglebox was just coming in. Later on a metalic light blue Mk II Jag on the Torbay ring road.

Sitting in my favourite place for breakfast, the Old Police Station Café, in Princetown, on Saturday, I glanced out the window just as a forward control LandRover went past. Don't think I've ever seen one on the road before & these things must be 50 years old, so for a working vehicle still to be in use (apparently) is quite extraordinary.

Not often the Citroen GS birotor makes an appearance on the FCF so here's one of its previous outings....

Was scanning down a Classic Car Restorer in Jersey's stock list and my curiosity was captured by a Citroen GS Birotor (which I misread as "Biro" "Tor"). Firstly I wondered what a biro-tor was! and also why was a Citroen GS priced at £29,950 GBP, which needed further investigation.

The Little Wankel has not yet gone away, its greatest current advocate is of course Mazda, who in the ubiquitous Japanese push towards hybrids, regard its small size as the perfect range extender.

Hasn't all the development been done before the GS came out - in, at the time, extraordinary Ami Birotor?

Anyway, both altogether more interesting than the rubber bumpered "B" parked down my road this morning.

The Birotor is something I'd have loved to own, not quite as sure about the '60s Auto Union coupe type-thing I saw being trailered through town today. Looked somewhat SAAB-esque if that helps anyone take a guess what it might have been? I have no idea, but it looked a bit small for me!

Me, i really like the look of those Autounion 1000S, particularly in yellow with a white roof. Bid on one at Brightwells Auction some time back and nearly got it. Massive contrast to my current electric, a two stroke noise and pollution generator, but sound pretty good if you give them some stick!

That's exactly what it was, Neil. Got it in one! :D

To be honest it looks more like a bastard love child of a Morris 1000 and a VW now I look at the photos, but maybe I knew somewhere in the back of my mind it'd be a 2 smoke & that triggered the SAAB part of my brain haha! The one I saw was in a fetching burnt orange colour not unlike the one I've seen RO80's in.

(Edit, the above is by no means meant in a derogatory manner! Just realised it could be viewed as such so thought I'd clarify, I think it's the best bits of the Morris and VW that it has taken on, along with a touch of Citroen DS if you squint a bit! )

Plenty new beetles around, but the originals are a rare sight these days. This one would appear to be still being used as a "daily", and has patina in spades rather than concours de elegance. It also has blue smoke from the exhaust!

Spotted this again yesterday......I think it may well be getting used for one of those Antiques Road Trip things with potentially Philip Serrel behind the wheel.
