Re: C5x7, fan not on, overheat warning
Not so, there's this one available on eBay. I know it works because i've got one installed in my X7 with my Alpine head unit. You will also need a radio adaptor cable for approx £4 and the appropriate patch lead. Be prepared for lots of swearing however, there's sod all room behind the head unit and the silver box is quite a large unit, it needs to be pushed down below the radio behind the storage cubby hole. You will lose your parking sensor beeps if its not can-bus compliant.

Re: C5x7, fan not on, overheat warning
Well, that's not actually a patch cable, but the entire mid-unit ... so, of course it works (but, I didn't know about it, true, never searched in detail since I don't have a need for it) ... if you have extra room (and long cables to reach everything), you could try placing that silver box behind the multifunction screen, or nearby it, there should be plenty of room available
Re: C5x7, fan not on, overheat warning
Those box ones are the only type I've ever seen work with can network cars. They are a pain though, I refuse to fit them for people as half the time they just don't work.

Thanks for finding/letting me know about that......worth considering.......time for an ebay search.
So what is the phono plug for ? and does it worth with a Bluetooth head unit (eg external mic)

Re: C5x7, fan not on, overheat warning
OK chaps....time to sort the cooling fan this weekend....so...HELP
Has anyone taken off the bumper ?, I have so far got :
removed wheel arch screws (x2) each side, and pulled back the liner (cannot see any more in there ? is there a clip ?
6x screws on the under tray
all the plugs on the top tray/cover,and the covers over the lights
Central intake grill screw and the side light trim screws, and the side light units with their screw.
.........Does not seem to want to move
edit:...Does anybody know where the fuse for the engine fan is located ?

Re: C5x7, fan not on, overheat warning
OK....so I started trying to work it all out concentrating on no distorting plastic of ripping out lips or lugs......this is what I found.
removed wheel arch screws (x2) each side, and pulled back the liner
6x screws on the under tray
all the plugs on the top tray/cover,and the covers over the lights
Central intake grill screw and the side light trim screws, and the side light units with their screw.
2 bolts per side, view the white "turn buckles" in the leading edge fold
Release the bumper D clips with a plastic tool, push it in under the bumper and work along one at a time
(View from Outside to help show clearly...this happens inside the wing ! )
Using the tool I twisted the turn buckles, I used rod both reach and so I could use a spanner (tough to turn by hand)
edit
This is way to complicated.....bend some rod and thin the end.....I was experimenting as I went and the welder was plugged in
Then pull the bumper forward wriggling as you go

Re: C5x7, fan not on, Removing the bumper for access
Rad cooling fan has gone I think....the relay "clicks" with 12volts supplied to it so the £16 part is OK but the fan does not work....so it is stuffed I think.
These fans are "two-speed" so cheep replacement ones do not work and you are limited to an OEM one (I Think? )....does anyone know a good well priced source ?
Citroen about £500....Ebay £350

Re: C5x7, fan not on, Removing the bumper for access
Job done,
I "raced" myself and to a grand total of 14.25 mins to get the bumper back on and all lights working/in-place and the bonnet down.....why was I worried by the bumper off/on ? , an easy job and I urge you to DIY if/when needed.
