Back to french finally. Problem with peugeot 3008 air vent

Post by Mdon »

Hi all,

After having a mazda 6 for the last two years I've come back to peugeot-citroen after buying a peugeot 3008 1.6 HDi 2010 plate. I've just picked it up from a non Peugeot garage and loved it on the 30 mile trip home. One slight issue I've already found is that there's a annoying rattle at about 2,000rmp coming from the drivers (door side) air vent that goes away if I put my fingers in the vent and pull it down. The car has came with a 12 month warranty but to save travelling back to the dealer with such a minor fault, does anyone know how to remove the vent so I can reseat it? It's a round one if that helps?

Thank you.

Hi, Mdon,
i have a spare round air vent in front of me and whilst I haven’t taken one out of my own dash I can tell you that the vent should be removable with a plastic trim tool. The dash is made of a foam plastic (like expanding foam filler after it sets) and the vent pushes into the round dash aperture until it seats around the chrome bezel. You should be able to gently prize out the vent by using a plastic trim tool to prize carefully around the chrome bezel until it lifts out of the aperture. There are four plastic barbs around the body of the vent which are designed to provide some friction to hold the vent in place when in the dashboard and there may be some initial resistance to overcome this friction before the vent pops out. The vent has a actuator arms/links both inside and outside so care will be needed when restoring the vent into the dash after diagnosing and rectifying the rattle - if that’s where it is.
Hope this helps and that all goes well.

Hello Marc,
Well better late than never! Yes, replied well past the use by date but might still be useful to someone since I don’t know what the original reply was.
Nice to know your around and thanks for all your very useful past help with my Peugeot radio adaptation.
