The first one that I bought was "Wimoweh" - Carl Denver.

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
That was the first single I bought.
The first record was Peer Gynt.
The deputy head used to play classical music in assembly every Thursday, the only day I went to assembly, it was deadly boring the rest of the week.
My youngest used to play this all the time when she was pregnant, the rumour being it would instil an appreciation of classical music in the infant.
Doesn't seem to have worked yet and he is nearly sixteen.

Similarly my first record was this gem which I found at Christchurch Jumble Sale in Watford in 1959!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

My number noticing tendency has prompted this rather out of the norm post!!
Which has become obsolete as I posted it!!

Following on from my earlier theme of number noticing generates this track:

Today's theme on the 'On your Bike' thread lead me to this:

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
This was unexpected.
After a mention of Jane Asher I looked for a TV piece I saw her in in the sixties, a 'One Step Beyond' episode IIRC.
Couldn't find it but did see that she has been in tons of things I had no idea about, including this.
In the OSB episode, she was a stowaway in her brother's spaceship and had compromised the fuel usage so he had to chuck her out or be unable to land.

What does the "Bond" purist think of the original "Casino Royale" movie. Probably not much. But it did have one of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's finest in it. Back to the original

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
This particular purist was mildly irritated when the film was released, particularly with the choice of Phineas Fogg to play Bond. While I am gererally a big Niven fan, I had great difficulty in seeing him as Bond. I have long since stopped worrying about such details and the film is now stored on the second shelf of my collection with the newer films which have no bearing on Fleming's masterpieces whatsoever.NewcastleFalcon wrote: 23 Jul 2021, 22:07 What does the "Bond" purist think of the original "Casino Royale" movie.

Never saw that one.
Somewhat obliquely, this has been mooted as the contender for the next Bond fillum theme.
And she as the Bondgirl (Taylor Momsen).

As for the new film, I find it hard to even keep up since it was mooted that the next Bond actor would be a black girl!! Nothing racial here you understand but Fleming went to a great deal of trouble identifying Bond and his roots and for me the alterations suggested simply serve to alienate the true Bond fan even more. Can you imagine casting Sydney Poitier playing Queen Elizabeth I in the life and times of Sir Walter Raleigh?

I caught the highlights of this year's belated Olympic Games from Tokyo this morning and I didn't think much of the theme music to the programme. Not a patch on this:

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
Liked that memories of Ann Packer and Mary Rand. If I recall right somewhere in the vicinity of Wells Cathedral Mary Rand's Long Jump record is marked out on the pavement, saw it on holiday one year. Have to check out how accurate the memory is
I always liked "la, la, la boom de ay" (my phonetic title likely not to be the real one!) from the Munich Olympics in 1972. Lets see if it can be found...
REgards Neil
Edit same bloke! No decent rendition of it in full on youtube yet just snippets
