I was going to offer The Proclaimer's - King Of The Road, or maybe Dean Martin's version, but instead I've settled for this. Why ? Because both songs mention Bangor (Maine). Why Bangor ? Because it's (more or less, give or take) 3000 miles from here :-D

Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

From my list

..the only place I can find the whistling George Dixon is on an episode on youtube from the mid 50's. So rather than bog down the PE jukebox with a half-hour 1950's Police drama I'll put it on On TV.

and here it is viewtopic.php?p=646648#p646648

But worth a nostalgic listen to the first couple of minutes. In a strange parallel with the final episode of Ashes to Ashes PC George Dixon after being fatally shot in the Blue lamp by Dirk Bogarde, did not hinder him in carrying on for a few series of Dixon of Dock Green.

My POTD linked with Dougie Maclean, and autoplay took me to one of his classic songs. He "wrote it on a beach in his early 20's when he was feeling a little homesick". It is one of those songs which for me just stir up emotion.

There are many versions and Lisa Kelly's from Celtic Woman is superb, but Dougie a few years on with a guitar and a few friends is what it played onto today....

Youngest daughter is sick of more modern stuff (like Kate Bush, not modern as in contemporary) and singing and asked for recommendations for classical stuff. I compiled half a dozen playlists the seem to have drifted off to Patti Smith and thence Bob Dylan, who I see was recently 79.
I must be getting old :(

My cousin has pointed me in the direction of this lot. If you have a problem with them nip over to the Isle of Wight and discuss it with her!

Heard twice on Classic FM - unusually the only two times it has been played.

Parce mihi, Domine

Unfortunately this is a cover of the one on CFM, where it was the Hilliard Ensemble with Jan Garbarek and the sax was sublime. Another order for Amazon :)

Two tracks from the Beatles I have come across recently, which completely bypassed me. Helter Skelter, and this I want you (she's so heavy). Noisy discordant, heavy, tremendous bass, strained screeched vocals at times, unexpected and a superb end where the silence is part of it. Not an easy listen but an excellent track in my opinion.

The Charles Manson "Helter Skelter" was a mystery to me for years. I did have the white album but it is another one that has gone AWOL.
