Opel?

Was in the seventies a client of the company I worked for had something very similar if not the same as that, sure it was an Opel but the strange thing was that it was diesel.

I would think you would be pretty close there Steve Looks very like at 1970's Opel GT, or seeing as it has US plates the GM equivalent.

I am afraid this curiosity-fuelled self-imposed wheresthisthen? has got the Falcon beat, so to save further agony I throw this one open to the FCF, and if everyone gets stuck, lets hope Zel chips in with a few clues.
So Whereisthischurchthen? and What is it called :?:
I presume from some deduction that it will be within 20-30 Miles of Milton Keynes, and therefore most likely to be in Buckinghamshire/Northants/Bedfordshire

Well, save for the post 2001 registration plates anyway, but we'll deal with those in due course.

Yours is St Joseph’s RC Church Birtley, designed by John Dobson

http://www.stjosephsbirtley.co.uk/aboutus.html

Bit easier for me than our outstanding one 20-30 miles from Milton Keynes, with no local knowledge to help :-D

I didn't think it would be that easy Neil.
A lady came to see what I was snooping about at, was OK when I explained the reason.
Found a load of X-box games that someone has nicked and slung into the churchyard.

The John Dobson thing surprised me. I just realised yesterday that the car parts bloke I used from about 1981 until he retired was a John Dobson. Never knew until the next but one owner told me.

I only knew of the other as we used to park in the John Dobson Street car park.

The business was "Cocker's Car Spares" so we thought that he was John Cocker. It had been his RSM that called everyone 'cocker'!

Clues to the interesting connection here:

None of this l knew about before, Elizabethvile and the Birtley Belgians.

https://www.durhamatwar.org.uk/story/12224/

Or Wiki tells the story. In my meandering I came across a learning resource and project for the local schoolchildren very thorough, and an important part of local history.
