The clues are there but you'll have to look closely!! :-D
Not being one who knows London like the back of my hand, I had a fruitless trip around the M25 and came up at Orpington from below. Not a decent tower block on the entire route!

Was on to large angular sculptures when I spotted Bobins reply. Never heard of the Greenwich Optic Cloak before and would never have been in the vicinity with the standard google maps routes between Hertford and Orpington!

I presume you went through the Blackwall tunnel. :-D

Indeed I did and the picture is taken just south of the tunnel entrance. If you zoom in you can see one pylon and some cable cars between the buildings and the spikes of the millenium dome above the building to the left! A 1 mile crawl approaching the tunnel on the way home but only 1/2 mile on the way there! The round trip took 4 hours to complete 104 miles. I have to test the spoils this morning and then take it to the mancave!! :-D

Yes I see it now...more in the picture than I thought, and getable even for me had I not had the pre-disposition of that route around the M25, and a thought that no Mick wouldn't have driven through "London" but skirted around the outside to get to Orpington.

Years since I have driven "through" London probably about 2003 in the visit Universities period. We had been staying near Canterbury with a relative who had a parking space right in the City which he said we could use. So we came in from the Kent end and drove into the centre of London literally down the Old Kent Road.....3 hours to get in :-D

Then headed for home, Hatfield and the North and all that at just the wrong time....another 3 hours getting out the other side heading North West.

May be a little bit of exaggeration involved it was some time ago :-D

Judging by the apparent radiation pattern on the wall around it I would suggest a heat source of some sort so maybe simply a light or a moth trap? :)

Not much Idea Gibbo but managed to break into the Birmingham History Forum....not sure if its a Birmingham location...but a bit more info for others to go on maybe.
It is fixed to the downpipe from roof guttering on a large church building, about 2.5m above the open end of the pipe. It's fixed to the pipe for support with two metal bands, but apparently not otherwise connected with the pipe. There are no electric cables going it. There are several other downpipes on the building with maybe one on another pipe.
and a very small picture

One of my thoughts was a Radon Gas Vent maybe with a bit of activated carbon filter but not very likely in Birmingham.

Ok then, here is a photo of an interesting Totem pole. Lets see who can identify it, tell us where it is and what the local history of it is. Clues to follow
