Clues to follow if too difficult

Well done Mick on getting that... I'm intrigued... The speedo is a British Smiths but it works backwards (anti-clockwise)... Never seen or been aware of a thing before :o

Why? I'm genuinely interested as your comment Mick, on my morning run today made me realise just how naturally anti-clockwise I am...

Right from a young age I've had a tendency to read a book, newspaper or magazine backwards and I still do...

Maybe I'm just backward  :?

The main clue for me was the painted surround in a popular Cobra colour. Because I knew some of them have an anti-clockwise speedo (which is topical in my mind from Jim's run this morning!) so I thought it was worth a punt! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Now that's interesting

No, I'm not generally but I do tend to be a little on the ambidextrous side...

The connections are amazing. Was the anticlockwise thing in my thinking when I selected the whats this then?

Not consciously my chain went from the yellow dials on the MX5, to wondering if there were other dials in yellow, or indeed in other colours. In that quest I came up with this site

Pics Celebrating the Rev Counter

One of which was the reverse sweep tacho featured in an Aston Martin. Wondered if there were any reverse sweep speedos and came up with the AC Cobra...

Highly improbable :-D

One explanation of why the AC Cobra had the reverse sweep speedo
https://www.rcnmag.com/blog/why-does-it-spin-backwards
"...We have pursued a number of retired ex-Smiths employees to gain benefit of their knowledge. When the car [Cobra] was being designed, the engineers realized that the cable drive from the gearbox to the speedometer was anticlockwise rotation, instead of the more usual clockwise. The normal procedure for an anticlock drive was to fit a reversing gearbox on the rear of the speedo to convert the rotation to drive a conventional clockwise speedo. Between the Cobra engineers and Smiths Industries, it was decided to offer an anticlock speedo as a feature, and obviously cost reduce the speedo installation by not having a cable drive gearbox.
