Being RHD probably narrows down the list of places it would have been made as a CKD kit and then assembled elsewhere.

BTW, the Talbot Horizon was by some distance the worst and most dangerous car that I have driven in my life. Admittedly the example I had as a company car did have a braking fault, but the dealer could not fix it and kept sending it back with the same fault.

I bought one of those at auction, it was immaculate but the brake disks and pads wore off in a few months, I tried to get new disks from the dealer but couldn't get a match despite there being no alternative listed.

I found out through a mate at the works in Coventry that they had fitted anything that was to hand when there was a strike at the French supplier, what was on the car was actually Renault nine front brakes that weren't adequate for the car.

I fitted it up with the proper brakes from a breakers yard but it wasn't an easy fix.

You may be right Mick but I am going for the Chrysler Alpine after those clues.

Assembled in New Zealand at Porirua and known by various names throughout the world including...

Simca 1308/1309/1508/1609
Chrysler 150 (Spain)
Chrysler Alpine
Dodge Alpine (Colombia)
Talbot 1510/150
Talbot Alpine
Talbot Solara
Talbot SX

No great pics of an engine bay but this is close enough for my guess

That looks good to me Neil, I have been looking around the Talbot Solara and similar with the same air filter arrangement but not got to the Alpines yet so I reckon you've pipped me on that one!! :-D
Closest I've found so far - Simca 1307!

I am presuming we hit the nail on the head Mick, so on to an old one.

The answer is in the FCF,

So let's take my POTD revival and try to turn it into a little minor entertainment by guessing what it is.

Not that either Mick, but I have to admit the pics are pretty poor on detail so onto the grill and the pillarless rear quarter window...
The cycle in the car is a Roy Thame Cycles

It is Mick well done. Precisely this model
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 06 Sep 2016, 19:12 Over on "Picture of the Day" this was "caught in the headlights".

An interesting spot, its a Sunbeam Talbot 90 Mark IIA from 1953. Previous versions had "spats" over the rear wheels. The saloon features a "pillarless" join between the glass on the rear door and the rear quarter window. It was the last car to carry the Sunbeam Talbot Name (in that era anyway... not sure if it got revived). It was also the subject of a very early Whatsthisthen? which Malcolm ( Citronut) was particularly pleased to get

Thanks for joining in Mick!

There was a classic cycle in the back of the car which I have subsequently dug a bit deeper on from Roy Thame Cycles. Roy had a bit of a Hemel Hempstead connection as I posted up on "On Your Bike".

Yes, you got there.
It is a New Zealand assembled Talbot Alpine, I guess that the CKD kit came from the UK plant (Ryton?).
