M&S also had mince pies with a pre-Christmas use by date. Was given some Mr Kipling mince pies this week, they had icing on top............did nothing for me.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.
The hotel in town here - The Spread Eagle, Midhurst - has a tradition of giving guests a Christmas pudding on Christmas Eve and they can either eat it, or have it nailed to the ceiling to come back and enjoy in the future. The current oldest one up there dates from 1954 http://www.arbuturian.com/food/foodfeat ... as-pudding

I love mince pies too BUT, dear old-fashioned thing that I am, I'll only eat them at Christmas.
I'm sure my mother only made Christmas puddings every 3 years, in the years in between, we'd drag one out the cupboard, maybe a week in advance, bore holes in it with a skewer, fill the basin up to the brim with brandy (probably more than once) & leave it 'til it was time to re-heat it Christmas day.
She made her own mincemeat too, so mincepies were quite a performance, but I'm sure that was done every year.

Picked up a set of screwdiver bits, allen key, torx, security bits, etc, etc, unusually it includes a 1/4" drive ratchet (quite a nice one too) + an adaptor & a short extension, all in a rather superior, albeit, plastic case. I do have most (probably all) these things - somewhere! So this means I can keep them all in one place - OR, lose the lot. Just wish it'd been available earlier in the year when I was in the market for a 1/4 ratchet, which cost about the same as this set.
