I don't know the code! :(

Would it be simpler to swap for an ECU I have from an identical car, which I know the code for, or is it not as simple as that? (Is it easy to swap an ECU over?)

In the 405 with the Simple ECU coding YES very simple

Ive no idea were the engine ECU is on the 405, but if you simply swap the ECU for the known coded one, then the Keypad will call for the code from the ECU...

Having an Unlocked ECU is very handy to have in reality... if you lock the coded one, swap it back over.

It will be a long 144 pin or so plug, with a small catch you pull back to lift the Harness plug off the top of the ECU...

I'm all for being helpful, but 9 years is a little long to wait for an answer.

We've all done it - read a post and taken lots of trouble answering it.
Only to find out the query was from another era!
No calamity: history is what we can all learn from... :gh:

Dear ones, I was upset to solve this issue several months ago, and I could find a solution NOWHERE online... My luck was a friend who has helped me with the instructions in the car Presentation Manual. Well, lets hope I am the last one who will be troubled with this... :)

Kind regards, Doru
