Alarm ecu location 2000 W reg Xantia Estate.

Morning everyone. Had the passenger seat out of the car today but no ecu I take it they (Citroen) have re-sited it but where. Any help today VERY much appreciated as I don't want to spend my week off fixing the car. Richard Gallagher are you out there.

Just to add to this I have spoken to a couple of dealers who both couldn't pin point the ecu but one said it looked like it was under the bonnet (following pictures on his computer). Also they mention a key switch under the bonnet to disable the alarm/siren. But again knew nothing about it.

Update 2. I've been ringing some more garages and car alarm specialist's who keep saying that it's "possibly" linked with the immobiliser and as such I may not be able to disable it even if I wanted to. But if I can lock the door's with the key in the drivers door which by passes the alarm then you must be able to use the remote without setting the alarm. Can't I??

As far as I am aware... you can lock the car just with the key (hold it locked a few sec's to deadlock it) which as you say bypasses the alarm but can only use the remote to unlock!

Hi Ian, That's just my problem mate I would like to be able to lock it using the remote as well. I'm really not bothered about the alarm it's just the remote central locking that I would like to work.

this is true,on the facelift xantia its the CPH unit that controls the alarm,imobiliser,central locking & interior lighting.its located behind the glovebox at the passanger side.if you disconect it the car wont start.

Have a look at the fusebox to the right of the steering wheel. I successfully silenced my alarm by pulling one of them. The c/l still works. Sorry can't remember which one though! Turning the key under the bonnet is no good as the lights still flash, draining the battery.

For my Xantia the fuse is number 17 i believe and its a 10 or 15 amp one (what ever one is blue), stuck mine back in after i got home today but it kept going off so out it went again

Cheer's for the replies but I may now know the problem. If I try to set the alarm now it beeps to show a door is open (every time). Now if I open the boot and close the lock whilst it's open it set's o.k but if I shut the boot and try setting it gives the error tone BRILLIANT. Unfortunatley prior to my posting it would either show a fault then clear itself next time I set it or it would trigger in the middle of the night. I can't tell you how chuffed I am now I know the problem (fingers crossed). Being an Alarm engineer by trade (Buildings not cars) I know how annoying it is getting to a customer with an intermittant fault that requires loads of fault finding compared to turning up with the fault still there and getting it sorted instantly. Next thing i'm going to do is lock the catch with the boot open then set the alarm (with internal sensors off) to see if the way it catches is at fault or the lock itself. I will let you know soon hopefully again thanks for your replies.
