Hi Paul,
Further update.
I installed the maps as per instructions and I didn’t get any error or rebooting.
Only a very small sample size ( fingers crossed) so can’t guarantee it is resolved but maybe 2.77 need some sort of map to look/ check otherwise it freezes and reboots.
When I start using it normally tomorrow I will report back.
I know a couple of issues with the main instrument cluster not showing radio station and not showing any road details but if it works then maybe can be sorted later.
Thank you again for all the advice.

Re: RT6 2.75.c.5 Firmware / Software Download
Just to confirm, the unit appears to be now functioning as it should.
Not every option has been selected but hopefully over time when needed I don’t run into any errors.
So for clarity to others when changing the SD card in a RT6 and moving from 2.75 to 2.77 my unit constantly froze after around 90 seconds of switching on and restarted after 5 minutes. This was when no maps were installed.
Once the maps were installed the unit went back to functioning normally.
I do still have 2 issues that appear on the main instrument display in that the screen for GPS says “Zone not Mapped” and the screen for the audio says “Radio Off” while both are working correctly on the RT6 unit.
I am still looking at the forum to see if I can find any guidance on how to get those back and will post if I do. Alternatively if anyone has resolved this previously please advise.
Thanks to Paul again, without whom I would still be muddling around in the semi darkness.

You might be able to sort out these final two problems with Mirascripts as this has multiple options that you can change but I have no experience of this. That's my best guess.

Hi,
The RT6 unit in my Peugeot 508SW from May 2013 has also started to fail. Sometimes it starts up normally (although slower), other times it doesn’t start at all and the CD drive is spinning up every 15 s. Typical SD card failure, it seems.
Last year I actually bought an official map update on USB. The box came with software 2.25. This version does not want to install on the new SD card; it stays empty (which appears to confirm that a downgrade is not possible).
I have been able to save the user data via Mirascript and could see that the current version is RNEG2.75.C.5. I would feel most comfortable upgrading to a similar version to maximize the chance that everything will keep on working. So, version 2.77 seems ideal. Any chance @Paul-R that you could send me a link? Thanks in advance!
PS: Getting to the SD car is easier than described in the procedure. No need to remove the screws from the top side (with the risk of damaging the flat cable to the CD drive). Just removing the 5 screws from the bottom is enough to gain access!

Many thanks, Paul!
I copied the files to a USB drive and could it on a new industrial grade SD card.
It took several hours to get the software, maps and user files installed, but everything seems to be working, except handsfree via my Android phone (BT streaming works).
