AD-Blue

Unread post by Biggerinthemirror »

Good evening,

2018 partner van 100000 miles.

Got an interesting problem, I was looking around the van after a wee drive and noticed a fairly substantial leak under the van. Got it onto the ramp and discovered that ad-blue was leaking from the connectors going to the injector on the exaust. I assumed that the valve was jammed in the injector so bought and fitted an a quinton hazell replacement unit, fired it up went for a spin and was totally surprised 😳 that I still have a leak from the connectors.

So back on the ramp and checked out the wiring…nothing damaged that I can see

Checked the voltage….i have a background of 10v with no amps (won’t trigger the solinoid) and I when I run it up to the point that the connectors leak i still don’t get a trigger voltage (12v I’m assuming).

So my question is where does the injector get its trigger voltage from and can I run a by bass to the injector from the source?

Happy to give more info if you need it.

Thanks

It's controlled by the ECU, but it's not simple on / off as far as I know, some sort of pulsed signal as the ad blue injection is varied depending on the box. If you have a leak and it's not the injector then the pipe must be broken.

The pipe connector onto the injector is quite a flimsy little thing and inspires no confidence.

I'm not sure if they're available as a spare part or can be joined to the existing pipework or if you'll need to buy a whole new pipe if the connector is the cause of the leak...

Here's hoping that's not the case...

Hi, a wee update.

It turns out that it’s the connectors are the fault…woo hoo….si I’ve stripped out the old pipes and awaiting the replacements.

But what is the electric plug on the pipes doing it doesn’t seem to be connected to anything other than itself?

Thanks

The pipe is electric trace heated. Not sure where the power feed / return is.
