kangoo 2011 1.5 diesel not cranking

hi All.
i have had this kangoo a few months now ,bought it just to get to work and back daily ,went out at weekend to use it and it did not crank over, just a red stop light and spanner light on, have changed battery ,no change, but i notice the radiator fan comes on immediately when you turn the key. i had to pull the plug off for the fan as it was just draining the battery when i was trying to fault find . so all electrics still work ok , all lights power steering etc .so my friend plugged in a diagnostic tool and it came up with what i can only describe as pages of faults and errors , now here is the strange part i put a lead from positive on battery on to white wire on starter solenoid and it fired up , took it a run was fine ,came back put diagnostic tool back on and it showed no faults , turn off ignition and went to restart back the same way as before. any clues anyone . thanks in advance for any help.

Thats odd, might be the ignition live thats broke , maybe a break in its loom. If you cant get codes pop them up on here , someone might know on here

I have tried tracing it there is definatley 12v missing but i just cant get into the confined spaces were all the fuses and other stuff are.my hand scanner fails to detect and comes up with make sure ignition is on or engine running,also tried my bluetooth obd2 with my phone app and that says the same.

Sounds like the live wire in your obd socket may have a break hence or possible reason the scan tool cannot be found. If you find each ends of the live could try piggy backing that cable and see if it works. As you say space is limited

Hmm this one sounds quite simple, but lengthy. Firstly if the fan starts on ignition only, turn off ignition and repeat the process, give at least 10secs between turns. If after 8 or 9 attempts and it doesn't stop then disconnect the battery, re connect after 1 minute. The fan can run after a drive so once parked up do the same process, if not you'll have a dead battery in the morning. What codes are you getting? Its hard to diagnose a problem without the codes. You've read the codes but they will stay until they are deleted. You could fit a 7litre V8 engine in the car but the ECU will still show codes/faults unless there deleted.

I can no longer get any scan tool to work on it now,they just say please turn ignition on or start the engine.i pull the earth off to stop the fan its the only way to stop it,when put back on the fan is off,put key in and turn once the fan comes on,even if you take key out it will stay on.

Keep redoing it, I have this intermittent problem with my car, works every time. But it's annoying I know

Yes the fan can still run with the key removed

just phoned a garage for rough price to get it down to look at ,£60 to uplift it,£60 per hour they are on it ,no idea how long finding faults can take ,maybe try a mobile mechanic at least if they can diagnose it for me.

got some codes now showing as critical .brake/abs/esp...DTC518070 network/can bus system engine control unit is missing & minor DTC020710 network/can bus error. it is showing others as minor 921060 generic communication issue in ecu:upc module internal gr92.when first scanned it did show about 13 issues mostly relating to earth/ground but when i cleared them it came up with these ones the first one showing as critical and in red.

need wiring diagram, were best to get one, i had bought the online haynes manual for it for it but have discovered it is not the one for my van despite me giving them the reg number and vin number when i bought it, now they tell me they will refund me as they cannot help.
