Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
Good day everyone
I am looking at replacing the rear axle on my VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] PARTNER VU (M59) SHORT VAN '600' 1.9 D 71 (DW8B)
Is there a difference between the Peugeot '800' axle and the '600' axle. In other words, will either fit with no modifications?
I am hopeful that somoene has some experience with this and can assist.
Cheers!!

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
If you're talking about the rear suspension crossmember here shown as item (1), then yes they have the same part number for the 600 and 800 vans:
Original part now superseded: 5148G1
Replacement Part: 9830149780
Original part now superseded: 5148G1
Replacement Part: 9830149780

Same weight rating? Or does the 600/800 correspond to something else?

It's the payload 600 or 800. The exact specs will be on your vehicle plate.
Here's a comparison - I've highlighted your vehicle column in green.

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
I imagine the torsion bars 2 and 3 which provide the springing will be different

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
Thanks everyone! Probably should replace all the bushings and bolts, etc. etc. - is there a kit that can be purchased for rear axle service/upgrade/refit?

Don’t bother trying to repair yours, use these guys. http://abaxles.co.uk/en/about/ I’ve used them professionally a number of times, fully recon, ready to fit, delivered to your door.
What happens on these Pug axles, is the needle roller bearings break up and damages the cross shaft. Plus it’s right pain removing the torsion bars and then resetting the ride hight.

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
To be clear, from what i can see, all the refurbished axles seem to come as the axle only, no new brake lines, bushings, bolts, etc.Ohfishalee wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 00:13 Thanks everyone! I wouldn't expect them to come with any number of required parts as each vehicle is different. My question is - is there a kit that encompasses some of the basic fitting kit required ?

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
I suspect that I will need parts numbered as follows:GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑09 Jul 2022, 15:55 If you're talking about the rear suspension crossmember here shown as item (1), then yes they have the same part number for the 600 and 800 vans:

5, 10, 70;
4, 7, 8, 9, 13
Just for starters.
My underside is pretty rusty so I anticipate some of the bolts may need replacing.
It is a long, expensive journey from UK to Bermuda for some of these parts so I want to be prepared!!!!

Whoops !!! I missed you are in Bermuda, ignore my suggestion of the UK a company.
I still say fitting a recon’ assembly is your best bet, but getting one closer to home may be a problem.
Perhaps a “good” 2nd hand one? Trying to strip and rebuild yours you will be on a hiding for nothing.

IS THERE A COMPREHENSIVE REPAIR KIT THAT COVERS THE USUAL BITS AND BOBS THAT NEED REPLACING WHEN A COMPLETE AXLE IS BEING SWAPPED FOR THE DUFF ONE?

Re: Rear Axle replacement - M59 Partner
UPDATE
Have been successful with sourcing all parts except Part No 513147
I've determined this part to be included on the refurbished axle.
