Rear Suspension noise DS7

Post by rowsell »

Hi,

I have a 2018 DS7 Crossback prestige and after 3 days of picking it up a squeak from the rear appeared. I have taken it back to the dealer and they had a look and says its the suspensions bushes and they need replacing.

lucky its under warranty so getting replaced for nothing. they say this is a common fault for this age car?

has anybody else had the same issue and if so is there any other common issue I need to know of?

regards

Hi there I experienced this and had to be replaced under warranty. My garage told me the original part fitted at manufacture was faulty and the new one should be fine.

Hi,

Picked up my car yesterday and they have replaced the rear swing arms on both side. glad it was under warranty.

dealer also said that the early models of the DS7 had faulty bushes on but this was rectified from 2019.

just makes you think is there anything else that needs to be addressed?

Unfortunately with all new models - you guys are effectively the guinea pigs doing the 'real world' testing of these models. This is where the 3 year warranty really pays off - and if you are thinking about keeping it past the warranty - I strongly recommend you take out a manufacturer extended warranty on an annual basis for the next couple of years too.

I did this with My X7 and most of the issues occurred in years 4,5 & 6, with just at least £6k of warranty repairs done in that period.

Just back from the dealer after having the rear suspension arms replaced on my 2018 DS7... like others have said, it was done under warranty which is just as well as the bill was £414 for parts and labour! The suspension started creaking intermittently about a month ago and gradually got worse to the point where it was creaking constantly. I've been carrying some heavy loads lately and I can only assume that was enough to trigger the problem, as all had been fine up until then.

The mechanic said that both rear arm bushes had become detached.

Hi all

So I have had the arms and bushes replaced twice and this is a 2018 with less than 30k on the clock. There was also the back lights filling with water and 2 x 4 tyres...... and the door creaking was apparently wear andtear until I "politely" reminded them that it was a door it was designed to open etc.

Lost it recently BUT there literally is nothing else on the market that inspires me !

Sounds horrendous - I like the bit about the doors! Cop out clause number 3,158 no doubt!

If you get grief from the dealer - go straight to Head Office.

I have a 2020 DS7 Crossback eTense Ultra Prestige which I recently purchased and after 2 weeks of ownership started to rattle and squeak. Robins & Day in Manchester said that the rear suspension arms were badly worn and need replacing. 2 months have gone by and they have still been unable to get the parts and the noise is getting worse. Also in the interim one of the rear lights is filling up with water. My other concern is that the battery charges to a max of 19-21 miles, which for a car claiming 40 miles of electric motoring can't by right.

Ok, so the water filling up in the lights is a known issue. Your vehicle is in it's 3 year warranty period, so report this too to your dealer. They will undertake a test to gauge the severity of the water ingress (which they have to follow) and depending on the severity will replace the lamp module.

Next forget the claimed electric range, it's all pie in the sky. The max claimed range will drop as soon as it is used and will continue to drop as it is charged and discharged. I know there are others with these hybrids that never get the battery back to condition of the maximum range at new.

As for the rear suspension arms - you have this identified, so wait until they have done this work to see of that has cured it. There are plenty of other issues regarding noises and vibrations - but these can be from the bulkhead area seal and from under the seats on row 2. Anyway see how you go.

Joining the club: back lights with water was last year and replaced under warranty. Now this year just got the suspension but not under warranty.... As it is a known issue do you think there are any chance to get this done for free (not accepted the hefty quote yet)? Anyone with post-warranty issues?

With so many issues with these, I would highly recommend an extended DS warranty if you can for these DS7s. I'm not aware of any TSBs for the suspension apart from there being no difference between the suspension modes. If it's the strut itself then they'll class that as wear and tear.

I’ve just had the same problem with my 2018 ds7
Just off the phone and been told there is a 5 year warranty with the suspension bush’s. Had to have both arms replaced. Hope this helps
