Very nice EV spot today, friendly owners didn't mind my increasing nosiness and very happy with the car, the only one in the family, and a myth buster that you need 2 cars, one for when you want to make a trip to Cornwall or John O Groats once a year, and another for the vast bulk of journeys round the doors under 20 miles.

Of course the Kona has a very decent range in 2021 form with the 64kWh battery there or thereabouts around a 300 mile range. Really anything greater than that and you are just lugging a heavier battery pack around with you 100% of the time unnecessarily.

Didn't mention to them once the Hyundai recall of the Kona, battery fire problems associated with LG battery packs, etc. :-D

I spotted this Mercedes at the Peartree Interchange Services (near Oxford) this morning. I also spotted two 71 reg Tesla Model 3 today; one on Richfield Avenue, and the second at the former Gowrings Ford showroom on the Basingstoke Road (now being taken over by Tesla).

Our local authority has a fleet of electric Vauxhall Movano minibuses used for their community transport service. Neat idea, but they are *painfully* slow. To the extent that I actually wound up overtaking one between MK and Buckingham the other day - when I was driving the Invacar. Assuming it's down to how they're set up, but 45mph downhill with a following wind seems to be the best they can muster. If it was just the once I might have thought it was in limp home mode or something but I've been stuck behind them on a few occasions now.

Something a bit more competent as today's spot though. Holographic Tesla Model X anyone?

I've seen this out and about a few times now but always when driving. As I had a passenger today I badgered them into snapping a few photos on the way past.

Yep...I'd happily own that!

I hope to get a better photo of it one day. The effect is really stunning in person and the photos really don't do it justice.

Charging near the beach at Troon yesterday and did a double take when I returned and saw a huge Range Rover plugged in next to my Leaf. Presumably some sort of short range plug in hybrid of some sort ?

Maybe David Hallworth would know ? :)

Within the proliferation of diesel and petrol engines offered on the Range Rover Range in "pure" form, or "con-trick" form (ie mild hybrid, self charging hybrid or whatever ) there is a 2.0 Litre Petrol Version Plug in Hybrid with a 30 ish mile electric only range available on each of the model types.

I think that model is this
