Hi All,
Just got a 2013 DS5. I love the car and love the functions but wish it had CarPlay. I have a double din radio that I have from in my old car that is CarPlay compatible.
Anyone know of any dash surrounds, harness etc to allow for replacing the radio? I would like to keep the reversing camera, rear parking sensors if possible. I would also like to try and keep working the display that shows the navigation near the steering wheel but know that may not be doable.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: DS5 Radio Replacement
Hi, and to the Forum.
I cannot offer any advice, other than to say it is unlikely the old radio will work well within your car, as radios are now highly integrated into the car electronics.

Re: DS5 Radio Replacement
The Head Units on these are indeed heavily integrated into the vehicles systems and the DS5 is a particular example. If you pull the system expect loss of parking assistance display / camera, and the ability to configure any vehicle options.chcnorris29 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2021, 18:50 Hi All,

You may be better off looking into replacing your Head Unit (which I suspect is an RT6) with a later SMEG+ IV2 system - but it will need configuring with Diagbox and they are not cheap. I really wouldn't cripple the car for the sake of Carplay TBH, but it's a personal choice of course.
To be honest, I don't bother with it on my system much - I have all my music on USB and this allows voice selection of albums, artists, tracks etc., which I can't get on Carplay without Siri and data hungry mobile usage. Also I find Carplay totally useless when it comes to playing music. Without a playlist it will only play a single track then stop - bloody useless.

Thank you both for the reply.
How do you do voice selection on the DS5? Might be a stupid question but don't see a voice button.

Been doing some digging and came across this company they offer a box that claims to add CarPlay to the existing system (RT6), listed on the company's aliexpress store as a Peugeot DS5 .GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑12 Jul 2021, 20:04The Head Units on these are indeed heavily integrated into the vehicles systems and the DS5 is a particular example. Re: DS5 Radio Replacement
If it’s what I’ve read on this box, it somehow uses the CarPlay protocol to provide Android features to the touchscreen, but this relies on you having CarPlay to start with and a touchscreen, so not with an RT6!
As far as I can tell the system also relies on Wi-Fi hotspots to work. So unless you’ve got unlimited data on your mobile phone, forget it.
Second issue is that some of the so-called features it provides like Netflix and YouTube are not allowed to be used in a vehicle whilst driving. It looks a very dodgy bit of kit to me.
I think the purpose of the unit to start with it was to provide video services and moving pictures to head unit with CarPlay. And as I’ve said those are the features that you’re not allowed to use while driving so very risky if you are to have an accident and be caught with that playing the latest rap song in a pile up!

I've seen that box too. From my understanding, it acts as a middleman between the head unit and the touch screen itself, and can communicate on CANBUS so that it can read button inputs from the steering wheel controls.chcnorris29 wrote: ↑14 Jul 2021, 00:57Been doing some digging and came across this company they offer a box that claims to add CarPlay to the existing system (RT6), listed on the company's aliexpress store as a Peugeot DS5 .GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑12 Jul 2021, 20:04The Head Units on these are indeed heavily integrated into the vehicles systems and the DS5 is a particular example. Am considering getting one, I think there's a thread over on the Peugeot forums with a bunch of users who bought this and most say it works pretty well, but YMMV.

Sorry everyone I'm not an expert... is this valid just for who has the two unit above mentioned? I have this one in my car and I would like to know if can be changed with something else?
I have attached the photo no idea what model is I cannot even find on Internet.
thanks in advance

Re: DS5 Radio Replacement
It is an RD45 radio you've got, with monochrome display.
It can be replaced with other head units that were fitted in DS5. Makes most sense to swap it with the latest one, called NAC (Navigation Connectée) that was built-in for last 2 years of DS5 production.
It can be done DIY, but if you're "no expert" maybe best to have it done by a specialist? There is one in UK (Magpieautos.com) and you can look it up. Prices go from £450.00.
More details on the conversion you can find in this topic: viewtopic.php?t=69891. Apart from described there (it is for RT6) in your case it'll be a generic GPS antenna needed, as well as (maybe) 3 wires tweaking to feed the new display (the ones from the monocrome display probably won't work). If you have the reversing camera it will work with NAC without any modifications. If you don't have it - the OEM one can be added.
And there are some Android head units that can also be fitted instead of your current radio.

Re: DS5 Radio Replacement

Re: DS5 Radio Replacement
Not really that's old school now and why there aren't as many on the market that there once was - due to heavy integration of the vehicle systems into the head units on PSA cars and many other manufacturers too.
You will likely lose visual Parking assistance (if fitted) and the ability to configure vehicle options, computer functionality for example.
The best upgrade paths are within compatible existing PSA systems.
What ever you decide, the units will need configuring with diagnostic equipment to code the VIN and also the other telematic options. You will also need to upgrade the aerial to ensure they are GPS enabled, sort out microphone and wiring and possibly configure the instrument panel ECU too. It's not as straight forward going from a basic RD45 system as it is from an existing telematics to another telematics system, as there are more requirements.
