Sat nav screen fault

Hiya All,

My WipNav RNEG satnav screen has been hit with some force and it has broken part of the display.

I have found a replacement screen forsale that goes with a RT3 head unit, will this screen work with my head unit?

Second question, I cant find any videos online, are they easy to swap out for a DIYer like myself to do?

No, it is not suitable.

The multifunction screens are specific to a certain range of telematics units and the RT3 system is an older telematics unit that has a specific screen.

Ok, so on this vehicle the multifunction screen is integrated into the instrument panel..... Item (1).

The part for the whole unit is 6103E8. It does not show a separate screen I'm afraid. Now the bad news, new these are £2,667.50 inc. VAT from Peugeot :shock:

So it may be possible to carefully check the identification numbers on the back of the display screen that will be attached to the display unit in case you can source a second hand screen.

To Remove:
  • Unclip the centre tray.
  • Remove the 2 fixing screws of the display panel.
  • Unclip the multifunction display assembly together with its visor by pulling it towards you.
  • Disconnect the multifunction display assembly.

Hey all, I finally got round to trying this on a wet bank holiday Monday. For some reason I can't get my hand behind the display to unplug the cables and they seem stuck in place?

Am I missing a trick here as I can't see how else I can access the back of the unit to unplug the cables.

Its really tight on the right hand side of the display where the Speedo is. I can probably pull it forward an inch...

Well I finally managed to find a replacement screen on eBay which arrived like it had been used as a rugby ball.

Sadly the screen was broken in transit as you can see from the below image. On a plus side it does mean then when I can find another replacement I do know they don't need to be coded to the car.

So as you can see, plugging in the head unit it has added 60k to the milage of the car. Is there anyway to reset the milage back to its correct reading of just over 90k?

Hi Mark

Oops! This normally only happens when somebody replaces the instrument cluster or the BSI.

The BSI compares mileages with the instrument cluster ECU and whichever has the higher mileage becomes the default for the other. So the BSI has seen that the donor instrument cluster has a higher mileage and has therefore updated itself to match the mileage. It is to help prevent 'clocking'. Unfortunately in this case, your multifunction screen is part of the instrument cluster and obviously contains the data for the mileage within its ECU. Normally changing a standard MFD would have no impact on this, but yours being installed in the cluster is obviously doing the same job.

The only way you could get this put back is by somebody with specialist equipment. You would normally need some evidence of the original mileage like a recent MOT that has recorded the date and mileage or a servicing invoice etc. I'm not sure the dealers would even be able to do this. Normally when replacing with a new part it would just assume the vehicle mileage as normal, but in your case it has added 60k to the odometer - the donor unit being from a higher mileage vehicle.

It is illegal to deliberately clock mileage in an attempt to deceive. However, as a retired Vehicle Examiner, I can tell you that you have a legal defence to alter a recorded mileage if you can show a bona fide reason for doing so. The issue is substantive proof and documentation.

Last MOT certificate may be acceptable as an indication of previous mileage.

Photographic evidence and independent corroboration would be the best. The thread on this forum could be classed as independent.

Oh balls. I only twigged when I started the car because it said the service was -41,00 😮, and as some of you know if had just been serviced.

I'll see what midland milage correction say tomorrow .... 🤬

Only just bought the car a month ago so v5 had 90,400 on it. Would that be acceptable?
