1.9TD flywheel sensor

Post by moomoo »

Hello all,
I've put a 'new' 1.9TD engine into my van.
I have an outstanding lead coming from the flywheel sensor and can't for the life of me find out where it plugs in.
It's brown/orange with three pins inside....it's on quite a long cable.
Does anyone have an idea where it goes?
Thanks
Moo

If the injection pump is fully mechanical then the Flywheel TDC sensor has no function bar giving the tachometer (if one is fitted) a signal.

Early 1.9TD engines had a sensor specifically dedicated to this task on the back of the engine, with, if I recall correctly, a black two-pin connector...

The brown three pin connector appeared in later engines...

If the van runs fine with it disconnected and there is no tacho to worry about then I'd not worry about it...

If the injection pump is the semi-electronic AS3 with ECU-controlled timing then the TDC sensor is critical to correct operation. If this is the case, let us know and further advice can be given...
