I have Whitby on my March Meander route with a view to taking an FCF picture of the Abbey, it would be brilliant if I can get a "birthplace of FCF character" snap while I'm there!! I'll add it to my list, and maybe if we manage to meet for lunch at The Drift Cafe (or elsewhere if its better for those who can join us) I can present it for pre-posting approval!!myglaren wrote: ↑20 Jan 2020, 10:32 Tripped a memory there Mick.
I was born at the top end of that street
the tall beige house on the left
I was born in the room with the upper window. My grandparents were church wardens and the house belonged to the church.
You can see why there are traffic restrictions on that street.
I really must get myself to Whitby and investigate.

Drift Cafe or Beamish would be great - I live a hop, skip and a jump from Beamish but haven't been in at least twenty years.
The house is looking rather dilapidated on the street view pictures.
It seems to be for sale there too. My brother in law bought it and the church hall but has probably divested himself of it now.
No need for approval, it will be what it is.

Re: Misty Mornings with 2020 vision
Steve, I've had a look at the route for Tuesday and because one of my prime targets is the Tyne tunnel and I start the day in Scarborough then, after Mathewsons, on to Whitby I don't have the time to shoot across to Beamish and back to the tunnel and then on to the wall, plus I would like to spend a few hours at Beamish on another trip in the summer. So I think the Drift Cafe or at least somewhere on the east side of the A1 is the sensible bet for Lunch which I don't want to have to rush!! Hopefully there will be at least three of us so I'll ask for commitments on the meander thread next month. I have two other trips to fit in before the meander so it is going to be busy!!

As Neil has suggested the Drift then that seems the best option.
Beamish is likely to take quite some time too.

An atmospheric study on the blue bin collection day with mist and crap cars. 08:00.
Shame the trees obscure most of the view, best I can do out of the windows and I'm not venturing out this early in that lot.

Re: Misty Mornings with 2020 vision
Only 6 posts to go after this one to hit 79,000 on the Off topic Chat Lounge, much to my number-noticing shame 78,000 passed by without ceremony, and my milometer on the Leaf was at 31333 yesterday when I noticed I had missed 31313.
So from the charging point yesterday I did take another dusk photo. Not quite dusk enough for the lights on the train to burn brighter, and as the light fades the sky gets more vivid in its colour. So in summary the composition was not quite what I imagined.
Regards Neil

Steve, this has to be one of the most romantic titles for a work of art never to have got as far as auction.
Love it.

Sun up through the mist and the trees this morning! (Be sure to view it at the right angle or you lose the top corners)
