Re: Xantia autobox question
Having recently been inflicted with a Xantia V6, I too will be looking to change the oil in the ZF 4HP20 box.
As far as I can determine, without a flushing machine as used by auto trans specialists, you just undo the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission after a run and about 2.5 litres will run out. That is all you will get out each time.
Refilling is through the dipstick hole.
With this in mind, I will be repeating this a couple of times over the next couple of engine oil changes.
I will be using the proper ZF Lifeguard 5 synthetic fluid.
If anyone else has any better ideas, please share!

Re: Xantia autobox question
Here is the official filling procedure for a fluid change.
Note that this is for the version of the box on late Xantias with no transmission dipstick. Earlier Xantias have a dipstick which makes life a little easier.
I am not aware of the naming of the ZF fluid tht you propose, but do check the spec sheets that it meets the original specifications of LT71141, as a fluid with the wrong friction characteristics will shorten the life of these transmissions.

Re: Xantia autobox question
Thank you! 3 litres changed today , already smoother (although what came out was black and horrible)
edit: it was also just over 3 litres to refill it

If this query is for your AM6 Euro 4 C6 Corne, you’ll need JWS 3309 specification or equivalent,

Re: Xantia autobox question
LT71141 was also used in some other makes of vehicle, I think most commonly in some VAG front wheel drive commercial vehicles, so it is available (if you can track down the part numbers) from Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, VAG and perhaps Toyota dealerships.
As far as I know, it is now only manufactured by Mobil, but is packaged under several OEM labels.
Here are links to a couple of versions of the spec sheet:

Re: Xantia autobox question
Hi Marc
No, was just out of curiosity. My C5 uses the same gearbox I believe, after loads of searching the only locally (South Africa) seller that clearly states that their oil is good for these gearboxes
https://ravenol.co.za/product/atf-54-hp-fluid
Guess there are quite a few oil Manufacturers with the same specs/product As long as it works, that is in the end all that's needed

If you post up your vin - the admins can see it (but us forum users cant) and he can tell you the gearbox you have and the fluid you need

All I can say is I would never be tempted to use anything (even if they assure you) other than the listed recommend oils...over the years I have seen to many posts on various forums of oil changes and short life with "it was recommended/assured"
