First thing you need to do is pop up your VIN number so I can determine the correct PSA part number.

Or just look for the number on the old unit and search for a similar spare.

^ The problem with that is there have been occasions where the wrong part has been fitted by a previous owner that causes the issues and this will perpetuate the problem.

I ask for the VIN deliberately so that I can provide the correct manufacturer part number from which a suitable new or aftermarket part can be sourced. It also saves me having to ask for the VIN if the member later requires other assistance.....

Thank you, can you recommend any sites or companies where I can get one from please. Reason I'm asking is that I have been spoilt, used to have a company car for the last 15 years so out of touch with car part or aftermarket companies

This is for the complete module.

Have you actually had a diagnostic done? If so, what were he fault codes? I’m curious as to why you think the ABS block / ECU is at fault. These are not cheap, so essential to make sure this is indeed the fault. Your C4 doesn't have ESP, and it looks like this is a complete unit, so no separate ECU shown.

There should also be a label on the top of the ECU part of the ABS block with a long number. Can you confirm that it is (9663345480)? If so, searching on this number will bring up more choices of second hand suppliers when searching.

These are massively expensive when new, at £1,228 inc. VAT from Citroen, so I would really make sure you need to replace the unit and that it is not just a wheel sensor that is bad or a connection.

Hi Marc, had diagnostics done a few weeks ago. The car has gone into limp mode. It is coming up with abs light, engine management light, stop light, airbag light all on on the dash. No display on the cluster and seat belt safety pretension ear warning and depollution filter warning, which is odd as its a petrol not diesel. Took it to a French car specialist near me for diagnostics and came back with abs ecu module as the problem. Told me that I could probably pick the part up online and he would check it for me before fitting. Is it easy to to get to the number on top of the block?

It should be visible from the top of the ECU, but needs the inner wing mud guard removing to get access to it.

That sounds suspiciously like an engine fusebox problem to me - given all those other warning lights... I'll check the wiring diagrams, but I suspect all those systems will also go through the engine fusebox unit. Ultimately all the systems do - but the BSI also has a CAN connection to the PSF1 engine fusebox, so difficult to say. I just hope the garage have got it right....

OK, be greatful if you could check. How much are engine fuse boxes normally. Would you like me to send you a photo of all the lights and warnings?

That would be useful, as I can't see how those other systems are related to an ABS fault - especially the de-pollution fault and seat belts - also you don't have ESP on this C4 either.

The engine fusebox is part 6500CK and is a lot cheaper from Eurocarcare for £162 for a genuine Citroen part. Another member bought one last week from them. Citroen currently charge £295 for these. But it's a suspicion of mine and would need to be ruled out in my opinion before coughing up for an ABS unit.
