Getting fed up!
of my C5, all running sweetly for the last 250 miles since the fuel failure problem, had a lunch outing booked for yesterday two miles from home smoke from under the bonnet, took a look and the top of the engine is swimming in diesel.
Drove it back home and used the Corsa instead,
Just been out and mopped up the spillings, started the engine and diesel is squirting from the injector up the thread of the connector boss, took it out and replaced the alloy washer, reduced the spray to a seep so I've coated the threads with silicone sealer to see it that will cure it but I think only an injector is going to be a complete cure.
This car is becoming a pain in the bum.

Re: Getting fed up!
Most are! and they also choose their moments! I went back to the days days of working in a muddy puddle under a car last week when after 10,000 miles of "put petrol in and go" motoring, the starter motor of my £100 Micra decided it was time to go kaput. Just as the drizzle monsoon hit Northumberland!
As ever you find you need a car to keep you mobile especially out in the Country, so I reinsured my back up Corsa for a year. Probably cheaper than hiring a car should I have the need again. I literally detest having to hire a car, with all its terms and conditions excesses and damage assessments!

Re: Getting fed up!
So I got a new injector and fitted it but now need to code it, the WoW scanner can do it but the codes on the top of the injectors are not very clear.
any advice?

Re: Getting fed up!
Ok, so is it the same class as the one you removed? These should be either class 4, 5 or 6 and cannot be mixed, unless replacing all of the injectors with the same class.

Re: Getting fed up!
Some like yours, should just have the classification and this is all you need to code it: Classification 4, 5 or 6 as per the table below for the Siemens ECU. Other ECUs can be different and some require par of a code to be input, but no yours.
So the marking shown as 'e' should correspond to the table above - and you should just need to enter the single classification. But as said, it must correspond to the same classification as the existing ones. Mixing classification types will stuff the particle filter system.

5 | Nominal |

Re: Getting fed up!
My advice would be to take as good a photo of the numbers as you can, then blow the image up on a screen to try and work out what they are.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner

Re: Getting fed up!
No joy with any of that, the new (recon) injector throws up all sorts of faults and puts the car into limp mode so for now I've put the original one back in.
It runs sweetly but still weeps slightly at the thread, I've fitted a new washer and tightened it as tight as I dare.
No fault codes showing on my scanner or on the dash.
Got a couple of photos, two of the originals and the recon one supplied, I checked and double checked with the supplier before buying and was assured it's correct and with a 12 month warranty
The originals with the FA prefix, the recon with G

Re: Getting fed up!
Well from what I can see what he's sent you aint right!
Citroen part number indicates 1980J9, a class 7 injector and that matches up with the
9660334880 injector as shown on your originals from your picture.
Example of a VDO here:
https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/vdo/7515477
What he's sent you is a 9663429286 which for all accounts is for a 1.4 HDi engine!
There are several injector parts for your VIN:
The one above that I mentioned, plus:
1980Z5 - Class 7 one here:
https://www.pfjones.co.uk/citroen-c5-ii ... 13552.html
I won't list the others as they are different classes. But both these fit both the 96 and the OEM number and should not need to be coded if you keep the class as the same.

Re: Getting fed up!
I hate that from ebay sellers. I've lost count of the times I have got wrong parts, especially when I had the activa. It's also one of the reasons I a8m done having old cars. So far I have not bought one single part for the leon, and that's in 10 months and 6000 miles, or for the c1, 3 months and 3000 miles. I hope you get the correct injector and get the car running properly

Re: Getting fed up!
All sorted now, running fine and no leaks.
Just popped down to the MOT man and got a pass with a couple of advisories on the rear tyres worn on the outer edges but good for a few more miles

Re: Getting fed up!
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as finding the correct part for some of this stuff is nearly always a nightmare and I got an immediate refund of the money as soon as the part arrived back at his place.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑16 Oct 2019, 13:46 Super.
