Right, DPF fluid filled - and I'm still here - it took all 3 litres so must have been fairly empty.

Going to Colins on Saturday and he is going to check my Lexias (Lexi?) as well. I will get him to switch of my folding mirrors too as nobody seems to know how to repair them.

As there doesn't seem to be a workshop manual available can anyone tell me if the 2.0 16v hdi engine in the 2008 series 2 is the same as mine, 2008 series 3.

Thanks

There are differences. The injection system is different for a start, the older series having Siemens and the later Delphi. There are also differences in the output on the X7, with one version being a 140 BHP output. There are also differences to the components so it depends on specifics as some operations may be common between the two, others different.

I’m talking here about the DW10BTED4 2.0 engine of course that Peter has and not the later 163 BHP DW10CTED4.

Right, thanks Marc. The reason I ask is that a have a Haynes manual for the series 1 and 2 up to 08 and wondered if it would be any help with the X7 - I hope I won't need it!

Actually just to complicate matters there are 4 variants of the C5 X7 DW10BTED4 engine depending on engine code:
RHJ, RHL, RHR, RHF. They range slightly in power output and torque.

But I think only the RHR and RHF were used so far as I can see (in the UK anyway).

Had the pleasure of meeting Peter today, really good to meet another forum member, especially one who really knows his onions :-D

Had some success with Diag session, Service light is now off and additive counter reset [-o<

A few faults remain that i cannot clear.

Unable to disable the folding mirror options but that is probably down to operator error #-o

Good news is that 1 of Peter's VCI does work so think the problem is maybe down to the software version needing updating.

Cracking car BTW, even the Boss asked if it was for sale 8-)

Not sure why the pics have come out the way they have but the last one is a fault within the BSI

Ok, so:

F8EB: Fault no PERMANENT positive of the display: Not characterised. So the permanent + voltage is disconnected (less than 8V).

This fault will appear apart from when the car is in Economy mode.
The fault will disappear if the positive + is returned and the multifunction screen is restarted.
Basically the display will be blank under these circumstances,
Suspect areas if still present when engine is running: Electrical harness / wiring or the Screen itself.

F907: Left-hand analogue auxiliary audio input 2 fault: Not characterised . Absence of a DC voltage of 4 V with a tolerance of +/-10 % and an impedance of the auxiliary inputs of 100 Ohms maximum for 2s, on one of the left or right-hand auxiliary inputs (During the radio wake-up phase). If Input AUX 2 configured present.

Suspect the Aux socket wiring (which is in the glovebox) to the Head Unit.

It might be worth checking that the Quadlock plug at the back of the Head Unit is secure.

F303 This is saying that an ECU has been left incorrectly configured / not written correctly. This may possibly be related to the attempt to change the folding mirror option - or from a previous session....

The only valves I ever used were on my bike - usually blowing up a tyre after fixing a puncture on my chopper!

For clarity the fault F303 was recorded during the Global Test BEFORE any repair/clearing was attempted

Peter it was a pleasure to meet you, sorry we could not sort all of the issues that were flagged up but here if need me :)

I have looked back at a post from Marc about the mirrors.

detailed pic

The mirror is doing what it should, with very little resistance it stops, my feeling is that maybe the lug has broken off the spindle, yes it is a faff to get it apart but may be repairable with a little bit of imagination ?

Yes - no blame intended there Colin - as I pointed out in my post
or from a previous session....
:-D this could also of been a previous (unrelated) attempt by the previous owner for example.

That picture is exactly the thing I was referring to about the pin snapping.

Marc i understand totally, but for posterity i was not at fault just this once, gonna have it engraved on my headstone, despite everything i was not to blame once :rofl2:

Now if we were to have a competition on who gets the best MPG then can i suggest Peter is excluded from taking part, 62.7 mpg on a saturday with bank holiday traffic is not fair
And 62.7 is less than his normal return since getting his hands on his C5 X7 .
I also exclude my good lady as she gets less than half of Peter's when she drives sensible, ie not full throttle or stopped :rofl2:
