C5 . . . . which model is this?
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of retiring my old Xantia exclusive and have my eye on a C5 tourer to replace it.
The problem is identifying the C5 model in question.
The C5 Tourer I'm after is 2.0 Hdi, 160 bhp with 133 g/km emissions. Preferably an exclusive with manual gearbox. I'm aware the hydropneumatic suspension was discontinued after a certain date (except on exclusives) and would prefer to stay with fluid suspension if possible.
I'd be much obliged if anyone can identify the model / year available etc.?
Even better, if anyone has a nice one they'd like to sell?
Many thanks,
Paul

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
ALL exclusive C5 X7s have hydractive 3+ suspension. If you are going for another trim, you will have to post the reg or VIN if you want confirmation of suspension type fitted.
There were 2 types of 2.0 diesel - the earlier DW10BTED4 138 / 140 bhp and the later DW10CTED4 Euro 5 engine.
You can’t go by the year precisely because of stocks and late registrations, so hence need for a reg or VIN for confirmation.

If you're looking to buy one in the UK, then the 160 bhp versions were only coming on to the market in very late 2009, so start looking from then, but as Marc says - that date isn't a fixed point as there were both bhp variants available on the forecourts for some time after late 2009.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
Thanks Marc, will do.
And Bobbins you're right, it's 2009 on wards.
Because I'm looking to import to Ireland, CO 2 emissions make a big difference.
eg. The manual version of the C5 tourer (160) is 133 g/km, whereas the auto version is 163 g/km.
However, The difference in road tax is €280 v €570 p.a. And there's also VRT (vehicle reg tax) which is emissions based.
So now I know I'm looking for a 2009 on wards C5 HDI Tourer exclusive (160)
Thanks again,
Paul

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
I think you'll find most 163 versions 2010 on - mine was late 2009 and 138, so again, a VIN check is the easiest way - it only takes a second to check once you've posted the reg of any car you spot.

Hi Marc,
I just came across this one (Reg: ***** and although it's not an exclusive, it's 160 hp with 139 g/km CO2.
Can you tell if it's got the activa suspension?
Many thanks,
Paul

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
That one IS an exclusive and therefore has Hydractive suspension - confirmed by VIN. It is the 163 version and should be silver. The Reg number has a '1' not an 'I'.

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
Hey Marc, thanks for that!
Interesting on the 1 in the reg . . it does read like an l. Also, the C5 badge on the boot is on the left, (?) and the image isn't flipped because there's
no Citroen badge on the opposite side. I'd rather not post the link openly, do you mind if I pm it to you? I'd appreciate your opinion.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
Hi, everyone
Just for the record,
I drive a C5 exclusive tourer , hydractive iii+ , manual, 163hp, 133g, & it is on a 15 plate.
So maybe pasalina should be looking for a later model?
Cheers,
Bill

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
Thanks Bill,
I'm slowly coming to that realisation. Fortunately , the 2010 / 2011 models were at 139g, which is in the same road tax bracket.
I'm now chasing down the 'exclusive' specs, as a few of them seem to be missing things like electric mirrors, etc.
Cheers,
Paul

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
You have to bear in mind that even though the exclusive is the top of the range trim level, there were still options on top of that that could be purchased. For example detection packs, concert packs for example
Also be aware that on the earlier 2008/2009 models they had electro chrome rearview mirrors that were indexable left and right in reverse gear, as well as being heated and electrically operated and foldable, but these were removed on later models due to the expense, so they are no longer indexable in reverse gear and do not retain memory settings.
The head units are again optional, so even on an exclusive model, you may still end up with the bog standard RD4 Head unit. Also full leather with massaging function was also an optional extra, as was lane departure warning system, directional xenon headlights, for example. So it’s important to go into the detail.

Re: C5 . . . . which model is this?
Hi Marc,
I was forced to move on a car or I would have missed it. So, it's a bit like getting planning permission after I've built the house!
The vin no is: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. It seems to have all the extras, with 77k miles (20011) and the only thing not working are the reverse parking sensors.
Thanks,
Paul
